St. Louis, MO. -With Night One in the books, the National Wrestling Alliance is ready to step Into the Fire for night two of the NWA 75 pay-per-view.  This is the big event as Tyrus defends not only the Ten Pounds of Gold in a bullrope match against EC3 but also upped the ante by putting his career on the line. Can The Overman finally achieve his final form, or will it be Nuff Said for the Great American Smash?

We will find out later tonight.  As the doors opened to the Khorassan Ballroom at The Chase Park Plaza, a couple of things were brought to my attention.  First, the front row had a Tyrus section with his merchandise from T-shirts to his memoir to action figures and replica gold chains.

Also, through sources at the NWA, more seats were added for the second night.  Before the preshow that was a dark match with Sodapop Hendrix versus Eric Jackson. Hendrix Won with a suplex.

Joe Galli and Velvet Sky come out for commentary, as does Tim Storm to applause from the fans after his match from last night.

So let’s start things off with the…

Preshow for Night Two

And the First match of the night is the…

Austin Idol’s 21-Man Battle Royal for an NWA National Heavyweight Championship Match

The men entering the ring are The Outrunners (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd), The SVGs (Blake “Bulletproof” Troop and Jax Dane), Joe Alonzo, Sal the Pal, Gaagz the Gymp, Magic Inc. (Magic Jake Dumas, and Cody James), Jordan Clearwater, Muscle Magnum (Big Strong Mims and Dak Draper), the Spectaculars (Brady Pierce, Rush Freeman, and Rolondo Freeman), Judais, Koa Laxamana, Matt Vine, and a returning Zicky Dice and Xyon.

*whew*

That is a ton of humanity in the squared circle, and this needs to be put to bed soon, so here are the highlights:

  • Troop eliminated Dane and he wasn’t happy that Bulletproof Troop dumped him out.  There was a moment with Magic Inc.

Now you see Magic, Inc….Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

  • Then The Fixers dumped them over the top.  Ta-da!

Now you see The Fixers, LLC.  Ta-da!  Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

Then there were four with Xyon, Troop, Dice, and Clearwater in the ring.  Both Troop and Dice battle over the top and are mean-mugging on the apron until they get knocked over by Xyon and Clearwater.  This is an unofficial rubber match, and Xyon puts Clearwater through the paces and locks in what I saw was an Anaconda Vice but this is an over-the-top-rope match, Idol reminds his masked protege.  Before he can take advantage, Clearwater chucks him over the ropes and…

Your Winner of the Battle Royale:  Jordan Clearwater

Vampiro has a video promo of him answering the call of La Rebelion and helping them out, but some clowns from his past are coming to haunt him.  He promises to take the clowns out.  Afterward, the Brothers of Funstruction and Violent J respond and ask why is he “alone-y homey/” and J goes further that Vamp is acting like a b****.  They promise tonight they will take the fight to them and have some fun.

Next, it’s Pretty Empowered and Ella Envy reminds us they run this company and nobody is going to stop ’em when they reclaim the Women’s tag belts tonight.

But another match is between…

Taylor Rising vs. Natalia Markova

Markova seems to be no worse for wear after her brutal match with Kamille in the main event of night one.  RIsing has a lot of presence but this night belongs to The Crush as she wins with a Beautiful Disaster kick for the three count.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Natalia Markova

Chris Adonis talks up his bout for the Television title and says he needs the title more than Thom Latimer.  Nothing personal, it’s just strictly business.

And the final match of the Pre-show is for the…

NWA United States Tag Team Championship: The Country Gentlemen (AJ Cazana and Anthony Andrews) (c) vs. Daisy Kill and Talos

The Country Gentlemen: Anthony Andrews and AJ Cazana (from left).
Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

Kill tries to serenade the St. Louis crowd to a chorus of boos, and then the Gentlemen come out to cheers.  (Interesting note:  Andrews was wearing a shirt with the Transgender flag that read “Ally.”)  Early on in the match, Kill is getting plucked like the Daisy he is by the Gentlemen until Talos makes Cazana a Gentleman in Peril.  He manages to get the hot tag to Andrews, who is a Thoroughbred en Fuego, but Talos stops the momentum with a choke slam and Kill pins him for the win.

Your Winners, and New NWA US Tag Team Champions:  Daisy Kill and Talos

Odinson and Kratos come out for a staredown and the new champs have some challengers down the road.

There is a video promo of the main event fight between EC3 & Tyrus.  That concludes the pre-show to kick off…

Night Two of NWA 75

We get stills of Terry Funk and Windham Rotunda and that leads us to the First Match of the night and it is for the…

NWA World Television Champion: Thom Latimer vs. Chris Adonis

There is a lotta bad blood between the men, especially after NWA POWERRR this past Tuesday, and Adonis plays mind games early on.  Latimer chases him around and finally goes to work and connects with a dropkick.  The match goes back and forth but Adonis keeps him grounded and softens The King of All Evil with a backbreaker.  Latimer stages a comeback with an atomic drop and a clothesline then follows up with a splash to a slam but is unable to keep him pinned.  Adonis comes back with a spine buster but Latimer returns back with a pop-up powerbomb for a two count.  Then Adonis doles out the receipt with his own pop-up powerbomb for two signals for the Masterlock.  He cinches the signature hold and Latimer powers out to flip over for a pin and Adonis releases.  Then Adnois goes up top for a high-risk maneuver but on the way down, Latimer catches him for a crossface and he taps out.

Your Winner and Still NWA Television Champion:  Thom Latimer

That is the seventh win, so he has some opportunities in the foreseeable future.

The next title match is for the…

NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship: M95 (Madi Wrenkowski and Missa Kate) (c) vs. Pretty Empowered (Ella Envy and Kylie Page)

Kate and Madi have new M95 T-shirts that resemble the MTV logo, and I want that shirt now.

M95 (Madi and Missa Kate). Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

In any case, Kylie and Kate start off with the Chicago native taking it to the younger Paige with an assist from Madi.  She nails a suplex to a pin for a two count, and then Envy tags in and now beats down Kate and she is an M95 in Peril.  Things look bleak for the champs until a hot tag to Madi gets her in the ring and she tears down the house with Pretty Empowered.  She lands a facebuster to Kylie to cover and Envy breaks the count.  As the match deteriorates and the ref tries to regain control, Kylie delivers the Kylie Red to get the three count, and that means…

Your Winner, and New NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions:  Pretty Empowered

And New….Pretty Empowered (Kylie Paige and Ella Envy).

Kerry Morton and Alex Taylor are backstage and they discuss the disrespect Matt Cardona had on night one when it came to beating his dad.  Morton says he will whip him because he is the face of the NWA.  The new NWA National Champion, “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason pops the champagne but gets serious when he says he will beat Jordan Clearwater in tonight’s title match.

And we have another title bout for the…

NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship: Colby Corino (c)(with Jamie Stanley) vs. Jack Cartwheel

Colby Corino and Jack Cartwheel. Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

This is a fast-paced match and Cartwheel gives Corino a run for his money.  But Corino is no slouch and slams him on the apron edge outside the ring, and follows with a somersault senton.  Cartwheel comes back and stops Corino with a moonsault to the floor.  He sends the champ back in the ring and nails a springboard elbow drop for a two count.  Then it’s chops ahoy and a Cartwheel attack is blocked for a rolling foot stomp by Corino.  Cartwheel tries to get back on offense and hits the ropes but a Spanish Fly gets Corino another two count.  Cartwheel…err, cartwheels away and then connects with a flying space Tiger drop on Corino on the outside, and as he comes back in, a Corino Clash gets him another two count.  That brings out the “This is awesome!” chants, rightfully so.  But Corino catches him with a short-arm clothesline then a tornado DDT but he escapes and then Cartwheel connects with a crucifix powerbomb for a close two count.  Then he gives Corino a cartwheel Cartwheel DVD and then goes up top for another high-risk maneuver that looked botched on the way down.   And that allowed Corino to deliver a DDT variation for the win.

Your Winner and Still NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion:  Colby Corino

Next, we have your…

NWA Women’s Television Championship: Max the Impaler vs. Ruthie Jay

Yes, this match screams Haiku in Review™, but I’ll give the basic rundown.  Jay was outclassed and outmatched by the Non-Binary Nightmare, who at one point held her aloft by one hand.  But the match was over before it began, and so…

Your Winner, and Still NWA Women’s Television Champion:  Max The Impaler

And now for the grudge match between…

The Brothers of Funstruction (Yabbo and Ruffo The Clown, with Violent J) vs. La Rebelio(MechaWolf and Bestia 666, with Vampiro)

Bestia starts off against Yabbo, and he’s faced with rubber chickens to get distracted for a beatdown.  He tosses the clown to the outside, and  Vamp and Mecha soften him up on the outside.  The hijinks continue briefly until he gets slapped with his own rubber tie.  Yabbo tries to squirt water from his flower but Rebelión keeps him isolated and the Funstruction is in Peril.  As Mecha beats him, he blows up a balloon and it explodes in Mecha’s face.  That allows him the hot tag and Ruffo is Funstruction en Fuego.  That erupts in a Pier Four brawl and J gets up on the apron to distract the ref.  That leads to the innovative offense as Yabbo does a tightrope walk on the top rope in clown shoes(!) to nail an elbow drop and more distractions occur by both teams as the ref tries again to regain control.  Then Vamp superkicks Ruffo and Mecha puts him away with a frog splash to get the decisive victory.

Your Winners via Pinfall:  La Rebelion

Violent J confronts Vamp in the ring and Rebelión come from behind and sneak attack the Insane Clown Posse member.  Then they literally pie-faced Violent J to add insult to injury.

Tyrus cuts a promo backstage on his upcoming bullrope match. Essentially he says that bulls are massive and he will put away EC3. Nuff said!

Next, we get…

Matt Cardona vs. Kerry Morton

Kerry walks down to the ring and cuts a heel promo to not boo the face of the NWA and he promises to kick Cardona’s ass.  As for this match, I thought this would be a heel/heel and would triumph in this dueling douchenozzlery but clearly, the fans are solidly behind the “savior of the NWA

Cardona controlled the action early on, but Morton gained the upper hand and sent Cardona to the outside with a big boot. Cardona rallied and hit the Reboot. Alex Taylor came to ringside to offer support and distraction, but Cardona manages to hit Radio Silence to cover yet Morton got his foot on the rope. Morton hit Cardona below the belt with a mule kick once the ref’s back was turned.  He nails Cardona with the Kiss It Goodbye knee lift and delivers the Showstopper to take him out.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Kerry Morton

The next match is a recently added title match is this is for the…

NWA National Championship:  “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason(c) vs. Jordan Clearwater

Jordan Clearwater and NWA National Champion “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason. Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

As promised this is photographic proof of The Thrill Section in the Khorassan Ballroom:

The Thrill Section. Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

Mason ain’t screwing after recently acquiring the National title, and he is on overdrive with his beatdown on Clearwater.  He comes back at the Thrillbilly with a slam and a backdrop and follows up into a leg drop.  But Mason is back in control until Clearwater reverses in an abdominal stretch but gets powered out.  A spinebuster by Clearwater for a two count, and he goes right to the Midas Touch but gets blocked.  Mason kicks the inside of his leg and gives him a jackknife powerbomb for a near fall.  Each goes for their respective finishers but Mason sends Clearwater on a Thrillride for a three count.

Your Winner via Pinfall, and Still NWA National Champion: “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason

The action doesn’t stop there as the next match will determine on this second night the…

NWA World Tag Team Championship: Blunt Force Trauma (Carnage and Damage, with Aron Stevens) (c) vs. Mike Knox and Trevor Murdoch

NWA Tag Team Champions Blunt Force Trauma and Aron Stevens with Trevor Murdoch and Mike Knox. Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

This match, to quote Todd Keneley, is heading to the “land of the big uglies” as the tag champs attack from behind and then all four men fight on the outside.  Once they go back in the ring, Knox and Murdoch set up the high/low finisher but both masked men duck out.  Then Knox grabs Carnage and the bell finally rings to signal the start of the match.

Murdoch backdrops Carnage for a two count, and then he gets a little dirty with a kick to ropes to the Blunt Force Trauma member and covers for another two count.  Knox tags in and gives Murdoch an assisted leg drop for another pinfall attempt for two, and he sends Carnage to the ropes and Stevens hangs onto him and pulls him out of the ring.  Knox gives chases and then Damage beats him down and the tag champs isolate Knox in the corner to keep him in Peril.  He attempts tag but Murdoch is knocked off the ring apron.  Knox fights back and finally gets the hot tag to Murdoch and he is a Hoss en Fuego.  Murdoch lands the flying bulldog to Carnage but gets a two count.  Knox is back in and he and Murdoch deliver the high/low finisher.  The ref is distracted by Damage as Stevens uses his loaded glove to whack Murdoch on the melon and drapes Carnage’s arm for the three count.

Your Winners, and Still NWA World Tag Team Champions:  Blunt Force Trauma

Murdoch comes to and is still in a daze as he and Knox watch the tag champs walk away with the gold.

And speaking of capturing gold, the next match is for the…

NWA World Women’s Championship: Kamille (c) vs. Kenzie Paige

NWA Women’s Champion Kamille and Kenzie Paige. Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

Kyle Davis gives the boxing style intros, and Paige foolishly pie faces The Brickhouse, and it is a one-sided affair.  Paige is wily but Kamille is dominant in the match and manages to cinch a Boston Crab.  She quickly squirms out of the hold before it can do more damage.  The champ dumps her out unceremoniously, and as Paige gets back in an elbow drop misses the mark and she takes advantage with a code breaker to arm to take away part of her arsenal with the spear.  She tries to adjust the second turnbuckle pad, but that focuses back on the champ.

Paige is scrappy and whips her into the corner and covers for a two count, and then gets Kamille in the Tree of Woe.  She goes for a sliding dropkick but Kamille pulls up and goes up top to land a crossbody for a two count.  Kamille then goes into her signature Oklahoma stampede for a two count then puts Paige in a torture rack for another near fall.  She manages to stun the champ on the top rope and Paige transitions it into a crossface but Kamille picks her up for a Michinoku Driver for another two count.  Kamille climbs to the top rope and Paige attempts to cut her off.  She positions her into an avalanche Michinoku Driver and still gets another two count.  Kamille is taking more high-risk spots atypical of her and a Kenzie cutter catches her on the way down for a close two count.  Kamille connects with a powerbomb but still can’t put her away.  Kamille rushes at her for the spear and hits the exposed turnbuckle and Paige now uses this to cover for one, two, and three!

Your Winner via Pinfall, and New NWA Women’s World Champion:  Kenzie Paige

And NEW NWA World Women’s Champion, Kenzie Paige. Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

After 813 days, Kamille was finally bested for The Burke on this historic night.  After Paige celebrated with family in attendance, the New NWA Women’s Tag champs in Envy and her sister Kylie held up all the gold.

Once the dust settles, Kyle Davis enters the ring and asks us fans to join in a ten-bell salute for the fallen wrestlers and that includes…

And we now get to your Main Event, and this is a…

Bullrope Match for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship: Tyrus (c) vs. EC3

Once again, the added stipulation is that if Tyrus loses, he must retire from in-ring competition.  EC3 enters wearing a cape reminiscent of the Spartans from 300, and Tyrus comes to the ring with his kids carrying the Ten Pounds of Gold.  Tyrus has a green robe with, “#1 Smash” on the back.

Tyrus holds the Ten Pounds of Gold aloft.
Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

After the boxing-style intros and the rules are explained (you must get a pin inside the ring) the bullrope is fastened to EC3, then to Tyrus.  The bell rings and Tyrus and EC3 pull each other in and we’re off to the races.  EC3 chops away but a clothesline by the champ stops that momentum and then he uses the cowbell on the bullrope to bludgeon The Overman.

He attempts to roll out of the ring but Tyrus pulls him back with jabs, channeling his mentor Dusty Rhodes, and finishing with a bionic elbow.  Tyrus wraps his fist around the rope and lays in body shots to EC3 from one corner to the other.  He proceeds to choke EC3 with rope then launches him across the ring with a T-bone suplex.  Tyrus whips him on the back but The Overman pulls him into the ring post and then nails a DDT on the camera platform.  Outside the ring, Tyrus tries to slam him, but Tyrus reverses to a suplex on the Khorassan floor.  Then the champ slams him onto the timekeepers’ table but the ref reminds him he must cover EC3 inside the ring for a win to count.

Back in the ring for a splash and Tyrus gets a two count.  The action spills out of the ring again and he punches away but EC3 takes the rope to pull him hard into the ring post.  He proceeds to go under the ring and a trash can comes out and EC3 smashes it across his head, then comes the steel chair that he smacks hard across his back.  Back in the ring and smashes the chair on his hand to take away the heart punch and then on his knees.  EC3 pulls up the last chair shot, sits down on it, and tells Tyrus to give up but The Great American Smash starts to fire back up.

EC3 says “Give Up” to Tyrus. Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

EC3 says “It’s over!”,  but Tyrus punches him with the cowbell.  Tyrus nails a choke slam but the ref is hurt and he can’t make the count. He yanks the rope into Tyrus’ nether regions and connects with the One Percenter for a count of one.  Then EC3 smacks the bell hard into Tyrus’s head and then proceeds to choke him with the bullrope in a submission hold, and Tyrus has no choice but to tap out.

Your Winner, and New NWA World Heavyweight Champion:  EC3

EC3 is your New NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Credit: Tommy “Milagro” Martinez

The new champion goes to Tyrus and hugs him.  EC3 whispers something and then heads back.  Tyrus receives a standing ovation from the St. Louis crowd.  He cuts a post-match promo and praises EC3 along with thanking the crowd and Billy Corgan for having him on this journey. He thanked his family and the NWA. EC3 came back to the ring and gave Tyrus an NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship to take with him. The NWA locker room comes out to celebrate with Tyrus.

Tyrus gets adulation from the roster.

NWA 75 Night Two - 08/27/2023
4

Final Thoughts:

An emotional main event and EC3 and Tyrus delivered in the end.  Kenzie Paige was the surprise winner to bring Kamille’s title run to a halt, and I can’t wait to see how she runs with The Burke.  Both the talent and Billy Corgan and company should be commended on bringing a great show from start to finish.

We’ll see the fallout  on the latest TV tapings of NWA Powerrr, so see ya next Tuesday!
