The National Wrestling Alliance is back and preparing for the road to NWA 75. On that road, the main event for the night includes a National title match between EC3 and “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason in a rematch from night one of The Crockett Cup.

We return to Highland Park, Il for the first time since the NWA 312 PPV. Joe Galli and Tim Storm have the call (Velvet Sky is away due to some illness) as the First Match of the night is a non-title match between…

La Rebelión (Bestia 666 and MechaWolf, with Vampiro) vs. The Brothers of Funstruction (Yabo and Ruffo the Clowns)

We hear from Galli that Vampiro will be in Rebelion’s corner as he recently obtained a Legends license.  The Clowns start to play around, and Rebelion makes it clear they are not playing.  However, the Brothers have some skills, too, and they get some double-team action on the NWA tag champs.  Wolf is isolated in the Funstruction corner and he is a Rebelion in Peril.  As Yabo hits the ropes, Bestia grabs him to stop his momentum and now La Rebelion finds their groove.  At one point, Vampiro distracts the ref so Rebelion can cause more damage to Yabo and Ruffo.

Ruffo gets singled out and he tries to get a tag but Bestia knocks Yabo off the apron.  La Rebelion attempts a corner splash but he escapes and makes the hot tag to Yabo and he is a Funstruction en Fuego.  He goes for a boot to Bestia, then Wolf, and also nails his tag partner, but Ruffo helps out and swings it around for a spinning heel kick to Wolf for a cover, but Vampiro dives in and breaks the count.  Now La Rebelión comes back with a double buckle bomb and a 3-D variation to cover, but Ruffo kicks out.  As Bestia goes out of the ring to take on Yabo, he manages to stun him on the ring apron.  Wolf sets up Ruffo for Vampiro, but the ref interjects, and as he escorts the legend outside the ring, Ruffo rolls him up and gets the surprise three count.

Your Winners via Pinfall, because Clowns are Evil, Godless Killing Machines:  The Brothers of Funstruction

So, yeah….that happened, and La Rebelion can’t believe it either.

Speaking of things that are hard to believe, we have next…

Ricky Morton (with Kerry Morton) vs. Koa Laxamana ( with Kallies)

Before the match gets underway, Laxamana offers a lei to Ricky, as Galli notes that this is the first time the Rock n’ Roller has “gotten lei’d (Oh, Galli!  You card!).”  It isn’t long before the Hawaiian Hitman is in control but gets distracted by Kerry making moves on his girl Kalleis at ringside.  Heel Ricky is more intriguing, and he takes advantage of Laxamana’s focus.  He tries to get back on offense, but Kerry trips him up, and Ricky delivers a Canadian destroyer that stops the Hawaiian in his tracks

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Ricky Morton

May Valentine has returned and she has backstage Colby Corino and Samantha Starr. Starr lets us know she is a generational superstar, and she will take on Kenzie Paige for the Women’s Television title. Corino also notes his pedigree and he states he will challenge Kerry Morton for the NWA Junior Heavyweight title, but he first has to deal with Alex Taylor next to prove once and for all he is the number one contender.

But now we head back to ringside for a matchup between…

Zyon (with Austin Idol) vs. Rolando Freeman

That is the new name of the masked man that beat Cyon on night two of The Crockett Cup and as a Utahn living in the state of Zion, I say, “kudos.”  As for the original masked man of the NWA, Cyon, apparently, he’s nowhere to be seen.

As for Freeman, The Biggest Brother shows heart in this match, and Zyon shows him the mat.  He catches Freeman in an armbar and tries to escape by going to a rollup, but Zyon reapplies the hold.  Freeman scrambles until he gets his foot onto the bottom ropes to break the submission.  Zyon decimates Freeman throughout the match to the point that he loses his bow tie.  He keeps him grounded to the mat until Freeman catches him with a jawbreaker and follows up with a cannonball in the corner.  He attempts a crossbody but Zyon catches him and proceeds to give a series of backbreakers.  Now he cinches in an Anaconda Vice and Freeman has no choice but to tap out.

Your Winner via Submission:  Zyon

Danny Dealz comes to us with DLZ (which is a play off of “TMZ” and, in my opinion, less insipid than “QTV” in AEW). Ella Envy is looking bored in the background as Dealz gives us the scoop that the Brothers of Funstruction are meeting with the heads of the NWA to petition for a tag team title match.   All of a sudden, Mario Pardua comes into camera shot and he gives the scoop to Dealz that he’s gonna be angling for the NWA Television title against Thom Latimer.  Envy finally grabs the mic and tells Dealz he missed the biggest deal of all by not interviewing her.

(Author’s Note:  I woulda passed on that deal as well.)

May Valentine now has with her members of the newly formed Southern Six:  Alex Taylor, Kerry Morton, and “Thrilbilly” Silas Mason. Morton lays it out that with the Six, when you win you get paid big bucks. As for Mason, he promises that he’s taking the NWA National title from EC3.  He notes that The Overman tries to overanalyze things in the ring, but that won’t happen after he bashes in his skull.

Now, let’s go back ringside for an…

Eight-Women Tag Team Match: Kamille, Ruthie Jay, and M95 (Missa Kate and Madi vs. Natalia Markova and Pretty Empowered (Roxy, Ella Envy, and Kylie Paige)

Kamille and Markova renew their feud from The Crockett Cup with a shoving match, and Envy decides to tag herself in.  She slaps Kamille and after a beat, The Brickhouse takes her to the proverbial woodshed.  Madi tags in and she picks up where Kamille left off, but soon Markova gets back in the ring, as does M95 work their double-team offense on The Crush as hometown favorite Kate lands a running side punt to cover, but gets a two count.  Tag back to Envy, and shove Kate to the Pretty Empowered corner, and now she and Roxy give the Chicago native a double suplex, and she is an M95 in Peril.  She finally gets out of the corner to make the hot tag to  Jay who is a Five Athlete en Fuego just clearing the ring.  She nails the Meet De-Feet on Roxy to cover for a two count.  The match breaks down and everyone is firing live rounds, but the end comes as Kylie delivers the Code Kylie to Jay for the pin and the win.

Your Winners:  Natalia Markova and Pretty Empowered

May Valentine is now with The Country Gentleman and she asks AJ Cazana and Anthony Andrews their thoughts on the upcoming NWA US Tag Team showdown in a few weeks. They are looking forward to the competition, and in a few weeks, they will face Odinson and Jordan Clearwater.  Cazana lets us know this is going to be a palette cleanser, and they have them Dead to Rights.

But it’s now time for the Main Event, and this is a rematch for the…

NWA National Heavyweight Championship:  EC3(c) vs. “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason (with Pollo Del Mar)

As they come out from behind the curtain to the ring, Galli notes the tension between Mason and Del Mar is still there.  I would feel apprehensive, too, if my main squeeze walked over my prone body, but I’m also the same guy that believes I wouldn’t want to do anything with someone that had sex with a stripper that looks like me.

I guess I’m old-fashioned that way.

The bell rings and Mason comes right out of the gate with a splash, literally, to EC3.  He then stretches The Overman out on the bottom ropes him in and chops EC3’s chest hard.  Big Daddy Thrill has his foot on the gas and isn’t letting up anytime soon.

EC3 walks to the back but then thinks better of it and goes back to the ring.  He eyes Del Mar as he climbs back in and he whips him to the corner.  As he goes for another splash, EC3 catches Mason with a forearm. He’s still fired out and rushes the corner but EC3 steps away, and Mason’s arm and shoulder connect with the ring post.  After that, he targets Big Daddy Thrill’s bad arm to take away his arsenal and he follows it with a STO with the arm trapped to cause more damage.  Mason gets back in the driver’s seat and gives The Overman a big boot, and then he attempts the Thrillride, but EC3 catches with not one, but two One Percenters and gets a count of two.  EC3 grabs the National belt from the timekeepers’ table and goes into the ring with it, but Del Mar tries to stop him. Mason eyes them both and then shoves Del Mar out of the way and she collapses in a heap.  As the ref checks on her, EC3 cracks his head with the belt and rolls him up for one, two, and three.

Your Winner, and Still NWA National Champion:  EC3

As EC3 holds the belt aloft and basks in the win, he then drops the title on the mat and walks away. Galli lets us know he’s dropped the belt and wants to challenge Tyrus at NWA 75 for the Ten Pounds of Gold.  Mason eyes the belt and holds it for a minute before screaming in disbelief as the show goes to the credits.

Final Thoughts:

It’s been a minute since we’ve had new content from the NWA, but they are definitely not wasting any time setting up the potential card for NWA 75.  I don’t get clowns still, but the Brothers of Funstruction are interesting.  We’ll also see where things head with Zyon, but it looks interesting so far.

For now, see you in seven!
