At the conclusion of last night’s RAW, Kevin Owens challenged WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to be his guest on the KO Show at WrestleMania. In a video response posted on WWE’s Twitter page, Austin gave his response, which was – to paraphrase: “Oh, hell yeah!”

In the two-minute video, Austin – looking as ornery as ever – talked about his last match in WWE, a loss to Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson at WrestleMania 19.

“For nineteen years, I’ve had to live with that defeat,” he said, warning Owens that the pent-up frustration he’s held in about that loss will fuel him against Owens in their confrontation. That, and Austin’s drive to defend his home state of Texas, which Owens has been insulting over the past few weeks on TV.

Internet rumours had been circulating for some time about whether Austin would have a role in this year’s WrestleMania, and if so, what exactly he would do.

Whereas fellow legends Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker have returned to the company after retiring and laced their boots for actual matches, Austin hasn’t done so. Rather, in his more recent appearances, Austin had been hosting shows or segments and limiting his physicality to delivering a Stone Cold Stunner or two.

His comments in the video don’t necessarily confirm it will be a match, but they suggest his interaction with Owens will be more extensive than simply a Stunner-and-out deal.

“Whether you want to call this a KO Show, a match, a fight, a brawl, whatever,” he said pointedly to Owens, “I will guarantee you this… at WrestleMania, Stone Cold Steve Austin is gonna open up one last can of whoop-ass on you, Kevin Owens.”

Austin’s appearance is scheduled for Saturday, April 2nd, Night One of this year’s WrestleMania.
