BJ Whitmer sentenced to house arrest for attack

Ex-AEW producer and former RoH star BJ Whitmer will be serving 120 days of house arrest and has to complete a Batterer’s Intervention Program for allegedly strangling his ex-girlfriend. He will also serve a five year probation.

Whitmer had been charged with strangulation and burglary. Whitmer was facing a 5 to 10 year prison term.

The conclusion of the case was the result of a plea deal in which Whitmer maintains his innocence.

AEW fired Whitmer shortly after his arrest.

“B.J. Whitmer has been terminated following his arrest on domestic violence charges. While talent and staff are ultimately responsible for their own personal actions, this behavior is intolerable within AEW. AEW has reached out to offer support to those impacted by his behavior,” said AEW in a statement.

Speaking to Fox News 19 at the time, the plaintiff in the case said that after she broke up with Whitmer he was waiting for her in her home.

“I was literally fighting for my life. I came into my house and he was standing at the top of my steps waiting for me,” she said.

According to the woman and the police report, Whitmer held her down and started choking her. Police note marks on her neck at the scene.

“And he squeezed tighter and said, ‘I’m going to f—–g kill you! Do you hear me? I’m going to kill you! And once we got to the point of where we stopped moving, and then he continued choking me, I absolutely knew,” she said.

The woman says what saved her life is that she told Whitmer that the police were on their way, he let go and she escaped.

Whitmer is best known for his time in Ring of Honor where he was a part of The Prophecy led by Christopher Daniels and later in The Decade with Jimmy Jacobs and Roderick Strong. In Ring of Honor he held the ROH Tag Team Championship four times, twice with Dan Maff and twice with Jimmy Jacobs. Whitmer later took a supervisory, management role behind the scenes at RoH before moving on to AEW.
