Match 5: Josh Alexander and Octagon Jr. vs. Moose and Toxin

This was another pretty standard tag team match, with everyone playing to their strengths. In the case of Toxin, that might have been his nifty mask and fur-lined shoulder pads. Things picked up when Moose and Alexander were in there, with Alexander hitting some impressive power moves, and Moose hitting a textbook Dropkick on Alexander.

Meanwhile, Octagon Jr. was doing some flying all over, and Toxin looked neat in that mask. After a long while, it was down to Octagon Jr. and Moose in the ring. Moose went for a High Cross Body, but Octagon caught him in a Cutter on the way down, but Moose kicked out. Octagon Jr. went up top, but Toxin dumped him hard to the mat, leaving him prone for a Spear by Moose to end things once and for all.

Winners: Moose and Toxin

In the back, Tommy Dreamer said he would retain the Digital Media Championship against Deaner at Final Resolution.

A video package aired for “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada, who will be returning to TNA in January.

Match 6: The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) and El Hijo Del Vikingo vs. Trey Miguel and Los Vipers (Latigo and Toxin)

Three of these competitors already wrestled earlier on the show, but that didn’t mean they slowed things down. Indeed, an early feeling-out process between Miguel and Shelley that featured some nice technical wrestling, the pace picked up as the match went on. At one point, the Guns had simultaneous STFs locked on the Vipers, but Miguel made the save. El Hijo Del Vikingo hit some dazzling gymnasticals at various times in the match, including having a lengthy exchange with Miguel during which they chopped and kicked each other repeatedly. With the Guns and Vipers having taken each other out, Miguel nearly won after a Poison Rana on Vikingo, but Vikingo avoided a top rope move and then hit Miguel with a Modified GTS and a Springboard Phoenix Splash for the win.

Winners: The Motor City Machine Guns and El Hijo Del Vikingo

If you like random lucha libre matches, then you might have liked this episode. But if you were looking for the final build towards Saturday’s Final Resolution PPV, you picked the wrong week to watch Impact. Unfortunate, since there is no other opportunity for that build to take place. Not sure who this was for, exactly. But they were likely disappointed.
