Will Ospreay is your NJPW Cup 2021 Champion. After defeating Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Zack Sabre Jr., Sanada, David Finlay in the previous rounds, Ospreay pinned Shingo Takagi to win the tournament. Ospreay will now face former Cup winner and current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Kota Ibushi, for the belt at Sakura Genesis on April 4th.

In the finals, Shingo wasn’t above using Ospreay’s injury against him though. He tore at Ospreay’s nose causing him all sorts of anguish. Ospreay gave Shingo a nasty backbreaker right on the ringside barricade. Ospreay though took a terrible fall as Shingo clotheslined him over the top rope. Ospreay whacked his face on the apron as he flipped end over end to the floor. Ouch.

Bea Priestly raked Shingo’s back distracting him. Ospreay quickly ran up from behind as Shingo had his attention on Priestly and shoved him into a steel post.

Ospreay set up a table on the floor, however, Shingo reversed things and hoisted up Ospreay for a Death Valley Driver. Priestly cleverly and quickly pulled the table out of the way foiling Shingo’s plans. Minutes later, the table came into play once again as Ospreay landed a 450 Splash off the top rope putting Shingo through it.

Shingo slapped himself awake and rolled back into the ring. Ospreay countered the Pumping Bomber with a Spanish Fly and pinned Shingo with a Hidden Blade and a Stormbreaker to win the 2021 NJPW Cup.

Ospreay celebrated with the rest of The United Empire raising the NJPW Cup high into the air.

“With a torn rotator cuff and a broken nose I told you I was going to win the New Japan Cup and I won the New Japan Cup! You all doubted me. Every single one of you! I just dominated the heavyweight division, baby!” shouted Ospreay.

Ibushi came down to the ring to confront Ospreay. Ospreay said he doesn’t care about history, legacy or the controversy in unifying the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. All he cares about is being the top wrestler in NJPW and the world.

“I need this more than anything,” said Ospreay pointing to the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship belt around Ibushi’s shoulder.

“I will do anything it takes to take this away from you!” Ospreay continued. To show that he loves the championship more than anything in the world, Ospreay turned around hitting Bea Priestly with a stunner knocking her out. What the heck?!?!?
