The Bray Wanderers F.C. asked for help and WWE superstar Finn Balor answered the call.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic things were not looking good for the team. They launched a gofundme campaign to help out as the new season of the SSE Airtricity League season begins at the end of this month.
Their goal is €30,000.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge to us all, including Bray Wanderers FC, and the welcome return of football to the Carlisle Grounds brings with it many challenges which we must tackle,” stated the club. “2020 has been a real test for the club so far in terms of survival alone. Our players and backroom teams have all made huge sacrifices during this period to ensure the club’s survival for which we are extremely grateful.”
Privately, WWE’s Finn Balor donated €500 to the club under his real name Fergal Devitt.
The club took to Twitter to thank Balor and Balor retweeted the link.
👏 A huge thank you to one of Bray's finest @FinnBalor for his incredibly generous donation!
We'll have the red carpet rolled out in the Carlisle Grounds for you when you're home and we're back on the pitch! 🙌 #BálorClub
