NJPW Best of the Super Juniors continued today with both blocks in action.

The main event saw the A Block leader, Blake Christian who has gone 4-0 so far, face off against El Desperado.

The match began with some technical chain wrestling, but Christian then took the cheap shot of poking Desperado in the eye. He tried to capitalize on his cheating, however, Desperado swept his legs off the middle rope and began attacking Christian’s left leg. Christian battled back and he looked to do some joint manipulation as well, he went after Desperado’s left arm before hitting a springboard clothesline.

Christian then did a back handspring into a victory roll where he double stomped on Desperado’s arm. The action now spilled to the outside where Christian drove Desperado’s arm into the ring post before driving a chair into the arm and wrapping the arm around a chair. Desperado’s left arm was being made practically useless by Christian, he even through a piece of the steel barricade at Desperado.

He then ran across the arena and leaped over the barricade flipping onto Desperado. They now made it back in the ring where it was just more offence from Christian, he dropped Desperado with a half-and-half suplex, but Desperado then managed to catch him with a back suplex. Desperado was regaining momentum, he delivered a brainbuster to Christian and returned after his left knee.

Desperado wanted to lock in Numero Dos on that left leg, but he struggled to secure the hold with his injured arm. Christian hit Desperado with a big boot and a springboard double stomp to the left arm. He followed that by snapping Desperado’s arm over the ropes and then dove to the outside with a tope. Christian continued the attack with a springboard 450 to Desperado and locked in an arm bar. However, against the odds, Desperado reached the ropes to break the hold.

Both men were now exchanging strikes, but Desperado planted Christian with a pop-up powerbomb. He then knocked Christian down and he kicked right back up to superkick Desperado, he followed that with a running bicycle knee. Christian then bounced off the ropes again, this time right into a stiff forearm. Desperado now dropped the rocked Christian with a Tiger Driver’98 and he kept the arms locked to then hit Pinche Loco for the win. Desperado has handed Christian his first loss of the tournament.
