Greetings and Salutations! We are back in Canada and this week we have quite the card. We have Will Ospreay in action as he takes on Shibata to show Danielson he can do what he can do, but better and we also have a #1 contenders match as Swerve Strickland takes on Takeshita! With these stories as we lead into Dynasty, lets just get straight into the action.


Will Ospreay VS Katsuyori Shibata


Shibata and Ospreay start the match off and Shibata with a heavy attack on Ospreay, but Ospreay comes back with some kicks that send Shibata to the outside. Ospreay with a dive onto Shibata, but this time it’s Shibata that comes back with a kick of his own. Both men exchange some offence on the outside but Shibata gets the upper hand and lands a Suplex onto the hard floor near the entrance. Back in the ring, Shibata continues to work over on Ospreays leg. Ospreay and Shibata go back and forth some more and Shibata is ablke to connect with a huge kick to Ospreay. They end up outside of the ring again and this time Ospreay springboards off the barricade and takes Shibata down with a springboard. Both men trade forearms and Shibata goes “ham” with chops to the chest of Ospreay. Shibata locks in an abdominal stretch and after some time, Ospreay escapes and they trade suplexes. They keep going at it in this 50/50 affair and then Ospreay with a kick, but Shibata locks in a sleeper, but Ospreay is ablke to escape and hit a Os-cutter. After some ore back and forth,  Ospreay hits a Tiger Driver 91 and a Hidden Blade for the win.

Backstage, the Young Bucks are asked about their match tonight and Matthew re-iterates they plan to retire the old guard. Matthew says they asked Kazuchika Okada to watch their match and the EVP’s make it clear that their top goal is to win the tag team titles..

AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament QuarterfinalThe Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)


The Young Bucks briefly take control, but Private Party hits stereo superkicks and as The Bucks are our of the ring, they dive onto the Young Bucks at ringside. Matthew sends Quen over the barricade and Kassidy hits the Silly String. Quen and Nicholas battle on the barricade. At the same time, Jackson hits a Falcon Arrow onto the floor. The Young Bucks double-team on Quen and cut him off from partner. Quen eventually fights back and gets Matthew down with a side effect. Kassidy gets the hot tag and clears house.  Kassidy with a stiff kick on Matthew, followed by a Springboard Crossbody. The Young Bucks come right back and Matthew with a Suplex on Quen on the apron. Private Party hits Nicholas with the Gin and Juice. Nicholas goes to get the ring bell and the referee stops him from using it, but Matthew with a low blow. The Young Bucks, then are able to get out of a 630 splash by Quen and hit the EVP Trigger for the win.

Backstage, Chris Jericho says HOOK exceeded his expectations, and he’s proud of him. Jericho offers to give HOOK advice so he can become a world champion and HOOK accepts.


TBS Title Shot: Willow Nightingale VS Kris Statlander vs. Skye Blue vs. Anna Jay


Mercedes Moné joins the commentary team for the match. After a lot of back and forth from everyone, Blue hits Statlander with a shot to the face. Statlander floors Blue with a Pounce at ringside. Willow has some glares at Mercedes and is able to keep her own composure as she slams Jay. Back in the ring, Statlander rallies and the four women go back and forth some more. Willow with a kick, followed by her hitting a Senton on Jay. Blue with a Code Blue, but Statlander breaks up the pin. Statlander hits Blue with a back-breaker. Willow hits a missile dropkick. Statlander and Willow go at it in the middle of the ring, but Nightingale accidentally knocks Statlander. Willow with a Death Valley Driver on the apron to Blue and Jay with a kick sending Statlander to the outside with a kick. Willow with a Doctor Bomb on Jay and she gets the huge win.

Dustin Rhodes discusses his momentum and says he’s still very passionate. The Butcher interrupts him and challenges him to a match on AEW Rampage.

AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm is standing by with Ben Mankiewicz and a message is delivered.


AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarterfinal: Best Friends (Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta) (with Chuck Taylor) vs. Undisputed Kingdom (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) (with Roderick Strong)


Its a regular tag match and Cassidy tags in and clears house. Taven with a knee strike on Cassidy. Taven and Bennett hit the Proton Pack for a 2-count. Beretta and Cassidy double-team Bennett for a 2-count. Beretta plants Taven with a DDT, and Cassidy comes right back and hits one of his own.  Roderick Strong distracts Cassidy, and Cassidy dives onto him. Taven and Bennett go for the stump piledriver, and Beretta is sneaky as he gets a roll-up for the win.

Winners: Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta

 

The Young Bucks come to the stage and a stare off happens with their next opponents.


Backstage, Kyle O’Reilly is so happy that he’s back. He says he’ll be in action again on AEW Collision.


#1 Contender’s Match For AEW World Championship: Swerve Strickland (with Prince Nana) vs. Konosuke Takeshita (with Don Callis)


Strickland and Takeshita shake hands and its a 50/50 match. Takeshita takes control of the match, but Swerve with a hard kick to take back control. Swerve hits a Neckbreaker and follows that up with a Back-Breaker. Takeshita has his own plans as he hits Swerve with a Brainbuster. Takeshita keeps Swerve grounded. Strickland and Takeshita go at it and Swerve is able to toss Takeshita to ringside. Swerve with a Hurricanrana onto the floor at ringside and then hits a Crossbody.

Takeshita is able to come back from this and hits Swerve with a shot to the face and then he kicks Swerve. Swerve is out of the ring and Takeshita dives  on him at ringside. Swerve is able to make a comeback as he hits a DDT, but Takeshita with a Reverse Hurricanrana followed by a Blue Thunder Bomb for a 2-count. Takeshita continues his offence with a Knee strike, but Swerve hits a Flatliner, followed by a Swerve Stomp on the apron. Takeshita powerbombs Swerve and the two go back and forth. Strickland hits the House Call and Swerve Stomp, but its not enough to end the match yet. the two men go back and forth until Swerve hits a Swerve Stomp in mid-air and hits the Big Pressure for the win.

In the back, Samoa Joe comments tells Strickland to sign on the dotted line next week to set their match at AEW Dynasty.
