Greetings and salutations! I am filling in and going to be on the beat for the AEW report this week. This week we have what AEW is touting as a PPV quality show as Dynamite is being headlined by a Steel Cage match between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley. There is a full card and just like the TV show itself, let’s get straigh to the action. Without further ado, let’s get to it!

Claudio Castagnoli VS Rey Fenix (w/Alex Abrahantes) in a double jeopardy match

This match sees that the winner of the match would get a title shot at the other person’s title. So if Rey Fenix wins he gets a ROH World title shot and if Castagnoli wins then he and a partner will face the Lucha Bros for the ROH World Tag Team Champinships. The match is fast paced to start off and after some back and forth action, Castagnoli ends up on the outside. Fenix lands two Suicide Dives and as he goes for the third, Catagnoli catches him and lifts him up over his head and eventually dumps Fenix on the barricade. Fenix fights Castagnoli from this position and eventually runs across the barricade and hits a Huracanrana.

The two men end up back in the ring and Castagnoli got the advantage after landing a HUGE Clothesline that resulted in a 2-count. The two men end up back on the outside of the ring and Castagnoli puts on a show of strength yet again as he lifts Fenix and drapes him over the barricade yet again as we headed to Picture in Picture.

Back from the break, Fenix came back into the match and hits a Cutter on the ROH champ that ended up in another 2-count. We get a few cuts throughout the match of Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta watching the match somewhat sideways in the back. Back to the match, Fenix did a top rope moonsault onto Castagnoli who made his way to the outside of the ring. A tired Castagnoli went back to the ring and as Fenix jumps from the top rope, Castagnoli hits a HUGE uppercut.

Castagnoli went for the Ricola Bomb but Fenix turned it into a Destroyer for a very close nearfall. Castagnoli was done with the games and came right back to Fenix landing some vicious elbows to the head and neck of Fenix then picked up a lifeless Fenix and hit the Ricola Bomb for the win and a shot at the ROH Tag Team Championships. Danielson and Yuta were seen once more happy backstage.

Mark Briscoe came with a mic and some cups in hand he steps in the ring and said he spoke with his good friend Tony Khan and the match with Jarrett and Lethal vs FTR is official at Double or Nothing and HE will be the special referee. Briscoe wanted to celebrate with all his friends and passed the cups and alcohol around Dutt takes a huge sip and spits in the face of Harwood, who was horribly blinded by the 12 proof drink. Jarrett shoved Briscoe towards Harwood, who was still blind and delivers a piledriver on him. Jarrett and company leave while FTR and a trainer look over Mark Briscoe.

Christian Cage came out with Luchasaurus. Tony Schiavone was in the ring with them. Cage said he’s the number one contender for the TNT Championship because he’s Christian Cage. He then asked by do so  many AEW wrestlers have daddy issues? Cage took in the nuclear heat he was getting. Cage continues and said Jack Perry and now Wardlow “had a father.” Cage said he wouldn’t berate Wardlow’s father because he wasn’t famous and no one cares about him. Cage said Wardlow found a father figure in Arn Anderson, who is looking for a new son himself. Cage said Arn’s son Brock is under contract to AEW but he chose Wardlow over his own son to take credit for Wardlow’s successes.

Cage mocked Anderson for being “the other guy” in the tag team with Tully Blanchard and asked if he thinks that makes him a legend? Cage continued by saying that being Ric Flair’s lapdog makes him a legend. Cage questioned how many world titles Arn won? Cage said (though some great heat) that he is a multi-time world champion. Cage said he will spit in the face of Wardlow next week and then told the Detroit crowd to kiss his ass. Excalibur reminded us a few times that Wardlow and Arn Anderson were not in the building so he questioned if Cage will follow up on his threat.

Steel Cage Match: Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega (w/Don Callis)

Danielson joins the commentary team and the cage lowered around the ring as Jon Moxley made his entrance through the crowd. Moxley gave a double bird to the camera while saying some no no’s. Kenny Omega and Don Callis  come out and Moxley meets him at the ramp to start the fight before the match is even started. Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta attacked Omega only for The Young Bucks to run out and even things up. They put the boots to Yuta and Castagnoli. The Bucks wanted Danielson but Castagnoli took out the Bucks. Nick gets up and does a stage dive off the onto Castagnoli and Matt Jackson. The two men (Mox and Omega) are finally in the ring, and the match starts.

Both men with some offense and Omega with a middle rope Moonsault. After a pin attempt, Omega went to the outside and grabbed a chair wrapped with Barbed wire from under thee ring and used it on Moxley’s back then front. In a shocking part of the match, Moxley starts bleeding. Moxley comes back into the match and bashes Omega’s head into the camera. Omega comes right back and hits a Body Slam onto the same barbed wire chair. Moxley gets up and the two battle it out only for Moxley to Superplex Omega onto the barbed wired chair.

Moxley puts his sights on removing the top rope buckle from the ropes but a now bleeding Omega stopped Moxley in his tracks. The two battle it out and after a few kick and punches, Moxley is successful in removing the top rope. Moxley then literally fish hooks the top rope buckle into Omega’s mouth. Moxley attacked Omega with the top rope buckle some more until Omega gouges the eyes of Moxley and then attacks Moxley with the turnbuckle. Moxley comes right back as he knees Omega in the head.

Moxley heads to the outside of the ring and grabs a black bag and opens it up to pour broken glass in the ring. Omega tries to fight back and lands some chops on Moxley but Moxley kicks him and went for a DDT but Omega stops it and brings Moxley down to his knees and hits him with a V-Trigger. Omega sets Moxley up for a One Winged Angel but Moxley counters it into a good ol’ sleeper hold. Omega fights back and eventually drops to his back causing Moxley to land on the broken glass. After some more back and forth, Omega hits Moxley with a couple V-Trigger’s and followed it up with a Snap Dragon. Moxley was laid up on the cage and Omega goes for a Capital V-Trigger and both men crash through the cage.

Trainers check on both men but eventually Moxley gets up and throws Omega back in the ring. Moxley grabbed a screwdriver and was about to use it until Callis climbed thorugh the brooken cage wall and grabbed the screwdriver from Moxley. This mini distraction opened the door for Omega to hit a One Winged Angel. Omega with the pin BUT Callis hits Omega with the screwdriver. Moxley slowly covers Omega and gets the pin for the win.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Danielson was shown smiling. The commentators are shocked and calling Callis a father figure to Omega so they are in disbelief on what just happened. Callis looked to the crowd and pointed at his scar from Moxley and smiled. Callis left the ring with the crowd chanting “A$$hole”.  A trainer and a referee checked on Omega while Moxley celebrated to close the show.
