Mike Kanellis (AKA: Michael Bennett) has asked for his release from WWE.

In a statement on Twitter, Kanellis wrote it was just time for him to move on.

“I am only 34-years-old and feel I have way too much left in the tank. Working one day a week doesn’t cut it for me,” he wrote.

Kanellis explained he resigned with the company in June as he thought it was the best decision for his family at the time.

“I quickly realized that bringing my work frustrations and misery home with me is not good for my family and I no longer want my daughter to constantly see me come home defeated, sad and angry,” he continued.

Kanellis thanked everyone who has supported him inside and outside of the WWE. He remains “incredibly grateful” for the opportunity he had in the promotion.

Mike his wife Maria were portrayed as a power couple in the WWE but his career has never really flourished there even though he has put in some fantastic matches against The Brian Kendrick and Tozawa while on 205 Live. Recently, he and Maria worked a pregnancy storyline on Raw.

While in Impact Wrestling (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling) Kanellis won the Impact X Division Championship once defeating Eddie Edwards for it and then losing it back to Edwards.

During the eventful seven years he was in Ring of Honor he was part of The Kingdom, winning the ROH World Tag Team Championship with the current leader Matt Taven. He also won the IWGP Tag Team Championship with Taven as well.
