Alex Coughlin announced his retirement from the ring with a short, straightforward post on X late on March 23.

Coughlin retiring at only 30 years old comes as a shock to both fans and wrestlers. Wrestling for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), Coughlin reportedly got injured in a cage match for the promotion last month, leading to his forced early exit from wrestling. Coughlin himself is obviously upset by having to retire from the squared circle as you can see in the frustration and profanity in his X post.

Coughlin first debuted in 2018 with his local promotion New York Wrestling Connection, which was also where he trained under Bull James. He also wrestled for promotions like Ring of Honor and AEW alongside NJPW in his short career. One match on RoH was against a former trainer of his from LA Dojo, Katsuyori Shibata for the RoH Pure championship, a match that Coughlin ultimately lost. He saw championship gold one time as a member of Bullet Club in NJPW. Coughlin held the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championship belts with Gabe Kidd with the team donning the moniker of Bullet Club War Dogs.
NJPW, RoH and AEW commentator Ian Riccaboni also took to X to show love to Coughlin.
