It look as though Adam Copeland, the current AEW TNT Champion, will be vacating the title soon.

Copeland announced on social media that he fractured his shin bone and will need surgery to repair the injury.

Copeland suffered the injury at Double or Nothing during which he leapt off the top of a steel cage to deliver a flying elbow to Malakai Black who was laid out on a table. Instead, Copeland landed awkwardly on his leg.

“I guess the House always wins because I have gained two new friends,” said Copeland showing off a pair of crutches joking that he will name them Brody and Buddy.

“I got cocky is what it boils down to. I am a narcissist and an egomaniac. I will unpack that one day. My brain forgets what my body always seems to remember. I am 50 and I need to make better choices. My body pulled the emergency brake on me,” he joked announcing the injury.

Copeland explained that he doesn’t know the timeframe of the surgery quite yet. His daughter’s birthday is on Friday and he doesn’t want miss that.

Recovery from a fractured tibia usually takes between four to six months.

With Copeland joining the list there are now 10 AEW superstars who are out of action with injuries.
