MJF & Samoa Joe Confrontation

MJF is out and he tells Indianapolis that the devil is here and talks about how he lived in Indiana when he was trying to make it on the indies. He says that after defending the tag titles at All Out, he was told by “that mark” Tony Khan he needs to defend the title on September 20. He then remembered that the show will be at his home state. MJF says to start spreading the news, because MJF is heading back to NY State. MJF says whoever wins the tournament will find out the hard way no one is at the devils level.

Out comes Samoa Joe! He gets on the mic and says he was in the back and heard piss and vinegar in Max’s voice so he wanted a front row seat. Joe asked him what his issue was? MJF cracked a joke about Joe confusing his music for the ice cream truck. Joe says last time he had anything to do with an ice cream truck, he was the biggest star in the other companies (WWE) network. Joe asked MJF what his problem was again but adds “kid” to the end. Max calls him Joseph and says he’s quite creative himself, and then calls him Pillsbury Joeboy.

They make fun of their testicular sizes and Joe said his time with the midwestnerners made him dumb and once again asks what his problem is. Max loses his cool and says if he calls him kid one more time he’ll knock his teeth down his throat.

MJF accuses Joe of wanting to jump the line for a title shot. MJF tells Joe there is a whole tournament to see who wrestles the champ. MJF says that Joe knew him as a kid and asks the crowd who is ready for storytime with the champ?

MJF said that when he was 19 he had a tryout in Brooklyn for WWE and he knocked it out of the park because he’s that damn good. He reminds us his encounter with William Regal where he was told he was too young to get signed and blew him off.  MJF said we all know how that story ends as he knocked his ass back to NXT, and if Joe plays his cards right, he’s next.

Max talks about being given the security role and how Joe took a 19-year-old kid and shoved him into a brick wall and laughed. MJS knows why Joe did that. MJF reminds Joe that he’s not a kid anymore and he’s full grown, a generational talent, and the AEW World Champion, the best wrestler on god’s green earth, and the man who headlined the most historic pay-per-view of all time.

MJF says that he’s going to kill Joe, and why? Because he’s better than him and he knows it. Joe says he didn’t think of him as a kid when he pushed him into that wall, but he did think he was a little bitch. Joe says he  is going to enter the tournament, win it, and come for him, and until then, Have a nice day. MJF leaves the ring but Joe kicks the ropes into MJF’s lower parts and kicks him before grabbing the title. MJF is back and returns the favour by hitting Joe where the sun doesn’t shine. MJF with the attack and runs towards Joe, but Joe hits a Rock Bottom. Joe picks MJF up and is looking for a Avalanche (top rope) Muscle Buster but Adam Cole (Bay Bay) comes out and makes the save.

Medics check on MJF and he’s in obvious pain referencing his neck injury fro Sunday as he says his left arm is numb. Joe comes out and calls him a B!tch.  Roderick Strong is out now with The Kingdom as they all yell at Cole while on the ramp.

Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Quarterfinal: Roderick Strong (w/Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) VS Trent Beretta (w/Chuck Taylor)

Strong starts off strong using his wrestling maneuvers, but Trent hits a leaping Meteora on Strong. After a few chops back and forth, Strong hits a Backbreaker on Trent. Both men are back up, and Trent sends Strong to the corner and hits an Elbow and Tornado DDT, sending Strong to the outside for a breather grabbing onto his neck. Taven distracts Trent, and Strong hits Trent and sends him to the ring post, followed by a Suplex on the Apron. Trent hits a Rolling German Suplexes, followed by a Twisting Death Valley Driver.

Strong fell right on his head. Trent is looking for a Piledriver and hits it, and this could be it but Strong gets his foot on the rope to break the pin. Strong hits a Knee and End of Heartache to win.

Winner: Roderick Strong

Taven puts the neck brace back on Strong as both members of The Kingdom celebrate with Strong.

Renee Paquette interviews Toni Storm backstage. Storm was unaware she cost Ruby Soho the belt but she said doesn’t want to look backwards, she  just wants to look forward. Renee mentions that there is a four-way #1 contender’s match for Saraya’s AEW Title. Toni says next week, if Paquette is good, she’s going to give her a special look into her life, and until then, chin up, tits out, and watch for the shoe. Renee looks confused until a shoe flies past Renee who has to duck to avoid it.

Tony Schiavone interviews “Hangman” Adam Page

Schiavone is in the ring with Page. Page said he went to Chicago on a whim when he heard about the charity battle royal and talks about why he picked the Chicago Public Education Fund to give his $50,000 to.

“Swerve” Strickland and Prince Nana are out! Nana demands people give Swerve respect. Strickland says being in a coffin for two weeks give you clarity. Swerve asks Hangman if he’s AEW’s Mascot and if he’s happy being on the preshow? Swerve says he knows Page isn’t ashamed and says he’s been the hand-picked franchise player and asks if he’s lost his confidence.

Swerve says that Page has become complacent and has taken a back seat to The Elite. Swerve says he wants to fight for that franchise spot but he wants to warn Page that he has zero empathy for human life and he’ll walk him like a dog. But either way, he’s coming for that spot. Page leaves but Swerve has words about Page’s family. Page runs right back to get in Swerve’s face, but Brian Cage attacks him and his a Drill Claw.

Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Quarterfinal: Darby Allin VS Nick Wayne

Allin and Wayne go back and forth with pin attempts to start the match. Allin goes for a dive, but Wayne dodges it, sending Allin crashing into the barricade. Doctors are out and they check on Allin at ringside.

Allin manages to get back in the ring, and Wayne takes advantage of a slowed down Allin. Wayne slams Allin and goes for a Frog Splash, but it was blocked by Allin. Allin catches Wayne with a dropkick. Both men are going back and forht and even hit a double crossbody sending them both down. Once they’re back up, they trade chops, punches, and licks. Allin gets a microphone and tells Wayne he hits like an 18-year-old and tells Wayne to hit him like he wants to win.

Wayne drops Allin with a stiff shot and that’s when Christian Cage and Luchasaurus come out. Allin was going to go for the Coffin Drop, but then hesitated, thinking of their friendship. Both men trade rollup and pin attempts again, until Allin trapped Wayne’s arm while kicking him in the head and the referee stopped the match as Wayne gave up.

Winner: Darby Allin

Cage yells and asks what happens if Allin doesn’t make it to the semifinals? Allin stares at Cage & Luchasaurus.
