Greetings and Salutations! Its that time of the week again when we see what is happening in the world of AEW. This week is a special Fight For the Fallen Special where proceeds from this show will be donated to The Maui Food Bank to help with the recovery out there. We have a full card so (see below) so without further ado, let’s get to it!

AEW Dynamite Card – August 16, 2023


We are LIVE from Nashville Tennessee and Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Shiavone are on commentary. The show goes straight to the action.


 AEW International Title: Orange Cassidy (c) VS Wheeler Yuta 


We get things started off with both men trading punches back and forth until Cassidy hit a Suplex on Yuta only to have Yuta return the favour with a Suplex of his own. Both men continue to trade blows until a Double Boot puts them both down. Yuta gets the brief advantage as he sends Cassidy to the outside. Yuta hits Cassidy with a Suicide Dive onto Cassidy. The two are fighting at ringside and Yuta looks for a Suplex on the outside, but Cassidy hits one of his own. Both men fight up the ramp and Yuta hits a Piledriver up the ramp as the ref demands they take the match to the ring.

Yuta mocks Cassidy’s kicks while he has his hands in his pocket. Yuta eventually delivers Cassidy back to the ring. Back in the ring, Cassidy hits the Beach Break for a 2-count. Yuta is on full offense until Cassidy gets his time to shine. Cassidy gets Yuta down and climbs to the top rope, but Yuta meets him up there and eventually gets a Superplex on Cassidy. Yuta with a splash for another 2-count. Yuta looks for a kick to Cassidy’s head, but Cassidy turns this into a cradle pin for a 2. Cassidy is looking for a Spinning DDT, but the damage has been done as his leg buckle and he falls a bit, but eventually hits a Michinoku Driver on Yuta and gets a 2-count. Cassidy finally hits the Spinning DDT he was looking for earlier.

Cassidy is setting up for an Orange Punch but BCC members Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli are out from the crowd. Cassidy hits an Orange Punch but takes his time to get to the cover, which was only good for a 2. Yuta finds a cradle pin of his own for a 2. Yuta maintains control and tries for a Sunset Flip, but Cassidy hits a cradle for the win.

Winner: AND STILL International Champion; Orange Cassidy

After the match, Mox and Castagnoli hit the ring and put the boots to Cassidy. Best Friends were out but BCC was too much for them. BCC with chairs and…..EDDIE KINGSTON is back from the G1. Kingston beelines it to the ring and clears the ring of BCC members. Kingston with a mic and challenges The BCC to a Stadium Stampede Match.


JR and Omega Chat


Thea are at Daily’s Place, where Omega won his first title. Omega says that he is done and wants to move on from Callis. Callis interrupts and while confronting Omega, Jay White and Juice Robinson attack Omega with pipes sending him to the hospital.

We cut to outside of a hospital where Hangman Adam Page is seen. He says that he and Kota Ibushi will team with Omega to take on Robinson, White and Takeshita at Wembley at All In. Staff is out there telling Page not to drink beer…


Callis and JR Chat


Callis is in the ring and calls out Jericho. Jericho reminds Callis that he creates factions, and doesn’t join them. Jericho eventually agrees. Callis wants to celebrate but Jericho noticed a covered painting. Jericho wants to see the painting. Its revealed that it’s a picture of Callis holding Jericho’s severed head. Callis tells Jericho that he thought his (Jericho’s) ego would be too large to say yes. Jericho then asks who Callis thinks he is, and that nobody cares about his family. Jericho tells Callis that he has lost all his friends because hes a lowlife. Callis slaps Jericho and Jericho chokes Callis in the corner.

Konosuke Takshita and Will Ospreay ran in to help Callis and put the boots on Jericho. Ospreay hits a Hidden Blade and a chair shot causing him to bleed. Callis smashes the painting over Jericho’s head. Sammy Guevera is out and saves Jericho.


Darby Allin & Nicky Wayne VS The Gates of Agony


Wayne and Allin are attacked during their entracnes. Serve and Strickland make it out to ringside to watch things go down. Allin is cut of from Wayne for a bit until he is able to escape the attack to get the hot tag to Wayne. Wayne is working over both members of Gates of Agony. Allin is back in the ring to help and he and Wayne hit a Crucifix Bomb, Superkick Combo for a 2-count.

Gates of Agony are back and hit an elbow from an Electric Chair position Demolition Styles. Wayne is up and hits a Springboard Cutter. Allin and Wayne climb the same rope. Wayne gave Tanga Loa a moonsault on the floor while Allin gave Kaun the Coffin Drop in the ring and pinned him for the win.

Winners: Darby Allin & Nick Wayne

After the match, Mogul Affiliates are around the ring while Allin and Wayne have no way out. Sting is on the screen. Sting has kidnapped Prince Nana, Nana runs off while Sting says he needs someone to talk to.


MJF and Cole Prepare for Aussie Open


Cole and MJF start preparing for Aussie Open. MJF takes Cole to the Outback Steakhouse while Cole rents Crocodile Dundee 1 and 2. MJF found a video of Kangaroos fighting and wants to use a Kangaroo Kick as their second Finisher after the Double Clothesline. Cole and MJF Clothesline an inflatable Crocodile which got Tony Khan asking them into his office. MJF and Cole reach the arena. MJF goes to the bathroom. Cole is on his way to the ring while Roderick Strong shows up complaining to Cole about MJF and eventually kicks the car they rode in on.

In the ring, MJF dances. Cole says that 9 months ago he wasn’t sure he would be able to come back and now he’s headlining the biggest pro wrestling show in history. Cole said he will do anything to beat MJF. MJF said that after hearing of the first All In he DM’d Cody Rhodes. He said he got a chance and even though he lost the opener of the first All In, he caught the attention of Tony Khan who then eventually signed him to AEW.

MJF says that in 5 years he went from a nobody to one of the best ever. MJF says that it means a lot to him to main event with Cole. He said the Tripe  title means everything to him and winning at All In will make him legendary. Aussie Open jumps Cole and MJF. The faces turn things around. Davis avoids he Double Clothesline and saved Fletcher from The Kangaroo Kick. As MJF taunts Aussie Open, Cole gears up for a Superkick but MJF turns around and they hug…


Renne Paquette is with Chris Jericho. Jericho says that he would have faced Will Ospreay at Wrestle Kingdom but the Pandemic stopped it from happening. Jericho says nothing will stop them from facing each other at All In…


Texas Chainsaw Death Match: Jeff Jarrett VS Jeff Hardy


Hardy ends up around the arena and Jarrett jumps him. Karen Jarrett, Matt Hardy, Brother Zay, Sahtnam Singh, and Ethan Page are all out there already. Matt Hardy tried to make the save but at this point it was hard to tell what was going on. They keep fighting. Jeff fights his way to jump off some equipment and hits a Crossbody on a bunch of people. The fight eventually starts making its way back to the ring. Oh, I should mention that smoke rises from the ring and its starting to remind me of the Zombie match WWE did a few years ago….

Jarrett is in the ring with Jeff and Matt. Jeff hit a Twist of Fate on Jarrett who ends up on a table set up in a corner of the ring. Jeff hits a Swanton Bomb through the table but Jay Lethal is out and helps Jarrett. Page and Matt Hardy are taken out by Dutt and Karen via Low Blows. Leatherface is out…..yes….leatherface. Karen runs away…

Singh appears out of nowhere and chokeslams Jeff Hardy to put Jarrett ontop of him for the win…Jarret celebrates with some Leatherface belt. That was….something.

All In Qualifier for the Women’s 4-way title match: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. The Bunny (w/ Penelope Ford)


Both women shake hands to start the match. Both women trade punches, forearms and pushes. Baker brings the Bunny down and goes for a Lockjaw, but The Bunny counters it with a cradle for 2-count. Baker hits a Double Underhook Suplex on The Bunny, followed by a Spinning Neckbreaker for a 2-count. Ford tries to help The Bunny but this didn’t work out as Baker hits a Superkick and Stomp for the win.

Winner: Britt Baker


The Acclaimed vs. Jobber Team 73653637


The match doesn’t even start and the lights are out. When th lights come back on, The House of Black are in the ring. Buddy Murphy and Brody King attack The Acclaimed. Caster is busted open after a chain shot. The Acclaimed are laid out, King gets Billy’s boots and presents them to Malakai Black.


The Young Bucks VS The Gunn Club


Gunns are on their way out, but The Bucks attack them at the entrance ramp. The two teams eventually make their way to the ring where Nick and Colton get things officially started. The match quickly breaks down as all 4 brawl in the ring. Matt gets cut off from Nick as The Gunn’s control the match. Gunns look for a double clothesline, but end up hitting each other. Nick is in the match again. Nick with a Superkcik on Austin, Springboard Facebuster on Colton. Moonsault to the outside on Colton.

Austin is set up for a BTE Trigger, but Colton hits a flying Clothesline to break it up. The Bucks set up for a Meltzer Driver, but Colton breaks it up. Matt eats a 310 to Yuma from the Gunn’s, but Nick breaks up the pin via Double Stomp from the top rope. Austin with an O’Connor Roll on Nick, but Matt with a Superkick on Colton, and reverses the rollup for the win.

Winners: Young Bucks

Juice Robinson and Jay White are out and put the boots to the Bucks. FTR’s music plays and Bullet Club Gold are all looking at the entrance, but FTR comes through the crowd from behind for the save. FTR hits a Shatter Machine on Robinson. Bucks are up and clear the ring leaving only them and FTR alone. FTR looked like they were going to hit a Shatter Machine on The Bucks, but when the Bucks turn around they exchange pleasantries.
