It was 30 years ago when Mexican wrestling legend Konnan first appeared on The Pro Wrestling Spotlight Radio Show broadcast.

Now this week, Konnan returns to John Arezzi’s Pro Wrestling Spotlight to review that first appearance.

On March 6, 1993, Konnan (Charles Ashenoff) was in New York meeting with Arezzi and entertainment attorney Ron Skoler hoping to find a way to bring AAA Lucha Libre to the United States.

The show included Konnan’s first-ever conversation with Terry Funk, and Funk had high praise for the lucha legend. He gave his take on AAA and all of its success as a young promotion back then when it was run by the late Antonio Peña.

Wayne Ferris (The Honky Tonk Man) also appeared on the original broadcast, when he called in to talk about his recent testimony to the Grand Jury and the FBI, who were investigating Vince McMahon at the time. Funk did not want to hear anything Ferris had to say and he began to shoot on him, causing an absolutely wild ending to that broadcast.

The interview this time around looks back at all that and can only be described as groundbreaking, even for the Pro Wrestling Spotlight. Arrezzi and co-host Marsh chat with Konnan as he opens up to them as fans have never heard previously.

He speaks about his dealings with the WWF and WCW and reveals so much about his personality. He also shares his secret about how he has been able to remain one of the most influential figures in lucha libre history.

Patrons of Arezzi’s show have already gotten a chance to hear the show, but it’s debuting here and on YouTube:
