The first Smackdown after WrestleMania XL took place at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, on Friday, April 12, 2024.

SlamWrestling.net photographer Brad McFarlin was there to shoot the event, and Josh Olsen filed a few notes from the crowd.

“It was a cold, rainy Friday night in Detroit but the Little Ceasars Arena was red hot for SmackDown, from the pre-show Speed match between Angel and Johnny Gargano to the dark match co-main events of Solo Sikoa vs Jey Uso and Dominick Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes,” noted Olsen. “SmackDown began with what everyone wanted, the new Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes, who delivered a short yet very sweet promo, and then the action got underway with a Triple Threat match between LA Knight, Santos Escobar, and Bobby Lashley. It was a night full of action, and hot, young talent, including Bron Breakker making quick work of Cameron Grimes and Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair dispatching Chelsea Green and Piper Niven.

“Even when it was time to talk, such as when Paul Heyman picked up the microphone, it was Solo Sikoa who spoke the loudest, brutalizing Jimmy Uso with the surprise assistance of Tama Tonga. Little Ceasars Arena was the 18th consecutive televised sellout for the WWE, and Detroit got its money’s worth tonight.”
