In a back and forth with other members on X, Samantha Irvin shed some more light on her dissatisfaction with her role in WWE. She didn’t like the role that she excelled at.

The conversation started with someone criticizing the way fans have been discussing Ricochet since he left WWE and joined AEW.

Irvin confirmed that WWE has a strict social media policy around the superstars interaction with fans.

“Actually we just aren’t allowed to respond. No matter what people say, any response looks bad,” she wrote.

“You guys are public figures, the smart thing to do is to not respond to the negative tweets and comments. Focus on your actual fans. Respond to legit criticism with grace. Some responses to fans made Ricochet very unlikable, and I say this as a fan of his,” wrote back @Whyyouyelling1.

Irvin responded simply: “I don’t want to be a public figure.”

@Whyyouyelling1 responded by reminding her that she was and is: “Then you should stay off social media cause you currently are a public figure.”

Irvin once again responded distancing herself from her recent past: “Why are you so adamant in telling me what to do? Celebrity culture is dead. I am not a public figure. I am a person that people saw on wrestling.”

@Whyyouyelling1 criticized her answer stating: “You’re a person that people saw on an episodic wrestling show that broadcasts to millions of viewers all across the world that you appeared in a prominent role on a weekly basis for years but you’re not a public figure…. whatever you say.”

Irvin seemed to suggest she didn’t enjoy being a public figure writing: “Sure but don’t put extra rules and responsibilities on me because of it. I quit so now I can be a normal citizen again.”

Once again @Whyyouyelling1 responded: “Those “extra rules and responsibilities” came as soon as you decided to be on TV and doesn’t just go away just because you quit. You want it to go away then leave the public eye, that includes social media.”

Irvin fired back: “No thanks I’m gonna keep operating as I am and you can continue to try to control what I do lol.”

@Whyyouyelling1 replied: “Oh yea I’m using my social media powers to control your mind to do whatever I want.”

On her official account, Irvin the oddly reposted the following statement:

As part of the statement were screen captures of a chat with Irvin stating to another user on X: “I don’t like announcing.” and “I’m serious. Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become a general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcing. I loved watching the action but I don’t love being an announcer.”

She also wrote in response to fans on X:

“Wrestling doesn’t equal announcing.”

“Announcing is not fun. Wrestling is fun.”

“Nah, I still don’t like it. Imagine the one thing fans knowing you for is not something you enjoy.”

“Not everyone wants to be famous doing something they don’t enjoy.”

When asked what she DID like about the job she replied to another fan: “Helping create a vibe, helping with the presentation of the Superstars, interacting with the fans, supporting my friends backstage.”

Mark Henry introduced Irvin to the WWE. She began her career training at the WWE Performance Center but was unsuccessful as a wrestler.
