Just how big can a wrestling ring get? Sure, anyone can answer with the official regulation sizes and measurements but if you were to ask Anthony Greene, the 31-year-old from Randolph, Mass., he would say something different.

In an interview with SlamWrestling.net, the former 205 Live wrestler (as August Grey) spoke about anticipating his MLW debut in the 40-Man titular match at the sold-out Battle Riot this Saturday, April 5 in Long Beach, California.

“Between all the people that are in the match being able to step in the ring with Paul London, to get in the ring with Blue Panther. Matt Riddle, the champion. I think that right there alone will push me to a level where I’ll have more opportunities to wrestle for Major League wrestling in the future.”

As well as those names, he’ll be stepping into the match with the likes of Alex Kane, Shane Haste, Paul Walter Hauser, Dijak, among so many others and the gravity of this match is not lost on Greene. It’s a big deal for the former Good Looking Guys (NOAH) stable member.

“I’m also wrestling for the MLW World Heavyweight title, which I think is a big deal in itself.”

Having had brief stints in both WWE (205 Live) and AEW (Dark), Greene absorbed as much knowledge from everyone he could. Almost as soon as he entered the WWE Performance Center in October 2020, he was surrounded by accomplished people willing to help.

“I started with Scotty 2 Hotty. He was my first coach. Then we switched to a cruiserweight class, and my coaches were Sanjay Dutt and Brian Kendrick. And then my last coach while I was with NXT was Ace Steel.”

Green was given a wealth of information and there was no shortage of people willing to help.

“I learned something from all of them but the person I would say that took me under their wing was Steve Corino. He knew I was such a fan of his. He’s actually one of my top three favorite wrestlers of all time, alongside Chris Candido and the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels. He helped me more on the booking [and producing] side of things I really wanted to learn.”

“When it came to in ring, I think I learned the most from wrestling Tony Nese and Aria Daivari. I basically wrestled those two guys every single week on 205 Live. And [they] wrestled on WWE pay per views. They wrestled live on Raw. Tony Nese won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Wrestlemania.”

Formerly known as August Grey in 205 Live, one thing that Greene was able to be in another country around the world was himself.

“People always compare American pro wrestling and Japanese pro wrestling. I found that I just stuck to the style that I’ve always done. That happened to work for me throughout my time there.”

Greene hopes his style will work for him again on Saturday against 39 other wrestlers all vying for the MLW Men’s World Heavyweight Championship.

As for Battle Riot it self, Major League Wrestling (MLW) is celebrating a monumental achievement. The promotion has announced Battle Riot VII has sold out for a second time after expanding to the Thunder Studios Arena in Long Beach.

Fans who aren’t able to be there live can watch for free on MLW’s official YouTube channel this Saturday night at 10pm ET / 7pm PT.
