Another wrench has been thrown into the World Tag League tournament and perhaps Wrestle Kingdom, Wrestle Dynasty as a whole.
NJPW has announced that due to Henare’s knee injury at World Tag League he and The Great-O-Khan have had to surrender the IWGP Tag Team Championship.
This means the match against The Young Bucks at Wrestle Dynasty is a no-go and the winners of World Tag League will be facing different opponents at Wrestle Kingdom, whomever the champions are.
United Empire’s Callum Newman is also on the disabled list for NJPW. He suffered a knee injury during yesterday’s A Block action.
“Henare and Callum Newman, both of whom scheduled to compete on tonight’s World Tag League card in Kagoshima, have sustained knee injuries and will be unable to appear. We deeply apologize to fans who were looking forward to seeing both wrestle and appreciate your understanding. NJPW joins fans in wishing both Henare and Callum a speedy, full recovery.” stated NJPW.
It is unknown how NJPW will resolve the vacancy as the World Tag League tournament moved forward today.
