AEW continues its wrestling revolution with the aptly named Revolution pay per view this weekend. Here are our predictions for today’s big event.
Jade Cargill (c) vs. Tay Conti – AEW TBS Championship Match
Name | Prediction | Winner |
---|---|---|
Matthew Byer | As Tay Conti hasn’t been built up sufficiently as a dangerous challenger Jade Cargill will retain the TBS Title in fairly convincing fashion. | Jade Cargill |
John Powell | Conti had a shot at the AEW Women’s Championship at Full Gear last year. Why is she getting another crack at a title when there are other women like Hayter, Statlander, Rose, Ford, Soho and Deeb who deserve one? I don’t get the booking of this match. It won’t matter any way because… | Jade Cargill |
Bob Kapur | On social media, I have been trying to make #PushJade a thing, as I’m a huge fan. So this will be the rare match that I’ll pick based on who I want to win as opposed to doing some kind of analysis. That said, I think it also makes sense booking-wise, as she’s being presented as a dominant champion, and Tay Conti is pretty interchangeable with many of the other AEW women. But that’s secondary. | #PushJade |
A.H.F.O. (Andrade El Ídolo, Matt Hardy and Isiah Kassidy) vs. Sammy Guevara, Sting and Darby Allin
Name | Prediction | Winner |
---|---|---|
Matthew Byer | This will likely be a match that goes off the rails at points, but Guevara, Sting and Darby Allin should triumph. Perhaps the most significant thing which will come out of this match is Matt Hardy will split from A.H.F.O. to setup his reunion with his brother Jeff. | Guevara, Sting and Darby Allin |
John Powell | Jeff Hardy should be primed to appear on the show. Matt has been voicing his displeasure with the Hardy Family Office for some time. He will likely turn things over to Andrade and join up with Jeff after this loss. | Guevara, Sting and Darby Allin |
Bob Kapur | This will likely be a chaotic affair with some dangerous-looking stunts. There are reports that WWE may make a Jeff Hardy appearance difficult. But I would love to see him come in here, as he and Darby could make for an interesting pairing – either as a team or as opponents. Either way, I think Allin’s team gets the win. | Guevara, Sting, and Darby Allin |
Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus) (c) vs. reDRagon (Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly) vs. The Young Bucks – Three-way tag team match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship
Name | Prediction | Winner |
---|---|---|
Matthew Byer | Despite everything that has been reported look for Jeff Hardy to debut and team up with his brother Matt to win the AEW Tag Team Titles here in a surprise move. | The Hardy Boys |
John Powell | I have always been a massive fan of reDragon and would love for them to claim the gold but it might not be in the cards just yet. With the Hardy Boys on their way to reuniting in AEW it makes sense for the Bucks to win here and face off against the Hardys in the future. | The Young Bucks |
Bob Kapur | If history is any indication, I won’t watch this match because watching Young Bucks matches irritates me. I would like to see Fish and O’Reilly win this one, but I don’t think they will. I predict them having Jungle Boy down, but the Bucks come in and try to steal the win. reDragon will retaliate, get Superkicked by the Bucks, and then Jurassic Express will end up retaining. | Jurassic Express |
Bryan Danielson vs. John Moxley
Name | Prediction | Winners |
---|---|---|
Matthew Byer | This may end up being a pretty bloody match. While traditional booking would have Moxley finally beat Danielson after all these years look for the reverse to happen. | Bryan Danielson |
John Powell | This will be one hell of a fight, that’s for sure. I think it is too enticing for these two not to team up. Moxley loses but teams with Danielson. | Bryan Danielson |
Bob Kapur | I think the clash of styles may be too vast for them to have a classic. No way that Moxley can keep up with Danielson in a technical match, and I can’t see Danielson doing a bloody garbage match that Mox specializes in. I hope I’m wrong and they put on a match for the ages, but I’m not optimistic. | Bryan Danielson |
Eddie Kingston vs Chris Jericho
Name | Prediction | Winner |
---|---|---|
Matthew Byer |
Simply put Eddie Kingston needs and deserved the win here. Is it likely to happen? The magic eight ball says ‘no’ so look for Jericho to win after an assist from Hager. |
Chris Jericho |
John Powell | Kingston should be pushed as hard as Mick Foley was in WWE. He needs this win to solidify his stature in AEW. I cannot believe AEW isn’t taking advantage of the massive popularity Kingston has at present. | Eddie Kingston |
Bob Kapur | The unknown factor in this one is where Santana and Ortiz’s loyalties will lie. I think this is the beginning of a new faction with Eddie, and they will end up costing Jericho the win. | Eddie Kingston |
Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. (c) vs. Thunder Rosa – AEW Women’s World Championship Match
Name | Prediction | Winner |
---|---|---|
betonline.ag | Baker: +225. Rosa: -350. | Thunder Rosa |
Matthew Byer | The buildup for this match has been fairly well done, but it seems too soon for Thunder Rosa to win the AEW Women’s Championship. Thus, look for Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. to retain her title after some help from Rebel and Hayter to setup a rematch with Thunder Rosa involving a stipulation such as a ladder, falls count anywhere or steel cage match. | Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. |
John Powell | I am really pulling for Thunder Rosa here, however, I suspect this will have a hazy ending full of shenanigans which will lead to another match between the two. | Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. |
Bob Kapur | Can we be honest here and acknowledge that while Britt is a heck of a talker, she’s not all that great in the ring? If they want to really elevate the Women’s title and have a good variety of matches – including with people walking through the Forbidden Door – they should put it on Rosa. Britt doesn’t really need the title anyway to be over. | Thunder Rosa |
CM Punk versus MJF – Dollar Collar Match
Name | Prediction | Winner |
---|---|---|
betonline.ag | Punk: -270. MJF: +180. | CM Punk |
Matthew Byer | The recent promo by MJF on Dynamite on February 23, 2022, may have changed where this program is going. Plus, CM Punk is very much versed in the history of professional wrestling. Consequently look for CM Punk to win the dog collar match, but by the end of the bout CM Punk will be the heel and MJF will be the babyface. | CM Punk |
John Powell | Punk got busted up and hung out to dry on Dynamite. There is no way he loses this match. Both should go on to battle for the AEW Championship sooner rather than later though. This might be time for Wardlow to turn as well and set up something between him and MJF, his buddies. | CM Punk |
Bob Kapur | This has been one of the best builds in modern history. Hopefully the match can do justice to what’s come before it. I have a strong feeling that it will. MJF has to get his comeuppance, and this is the right stipulation for it to happen. I hope they don’t confuse the issue and drag this one down with peripheral nonsense from the brewing tension with Wardlow and Shawn Spears. Because that could easily ruin what should be a Match of the Year contender. | CM Punk |
“Hangman” Adam Page (c) vs. Adam Cole – AEW World Championship Match
Name | Prediction | Winner |
---|---|---|
betonline.ag | Hangman Page: -600. Adam Cole: +350. | Hangman Page |
John Powell | Adam Page has done well as the champ. It is time for him to move on though. Although he had really good matches, I never really saw him as the face of AEW. Adam Cole, despite how he has been used, should be pushed to the top. | Adam Cole |
Bob Kapur | Adam Page’s title reign has been so underwhelming that you’d think he was a WWE Champion not named Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar. That said, Cole hasn’t really been presented as a big deal either, having been mired in inter-faction silliness and mid-card nonsense with the joke Orange Cassidy. Not sure either of them can be rehabilitated, so I’ll go with the trusty coin-toss. Heads, Cole wins. Tails, Page wins. | Tails: Page |
Matthew Byer | “Hangman” Adam Page’s reign as AEW Champion has failed to truly capture the imagination of the audience. Part of the issue was that prior to winning the AEW Title from Kenny Omega, Page hadn’t been properly built up as a main event star the year prior. Now he faces Adam Cole whose booking since arriving in AEW hasn’t been the best either. Who wins? Look for Cole to get an assist from his fellow former NXT stars to capture the AEW Title and end Page’s AEW title reign. | Adam Cole |
Face of the Revolution Ladder match
Name | Prediction | Winner |
---|---|---|
Matthew Byer | If the recently released Cesaro enters the fray then look for him to emerge the winner. If not it will either be Keith Lee or Wardlow. | ?????? |
John Powell | Wardlow or Lee seems to be the local choices but considering who is the current TNT Champion, I think we will see a sneaky win here. | Ricky Starks |
Bob Kapur | I like most of the entrants in this one, and it could be a very interesting match given the number of big strong competitors in there along with smaller fliers like Starks and Christian. I would like to see Christian’s ladder match experience play out and take him to the win. But I won’t see it, because I will continue my custom of changing the channel rather than watching an Orange Cassidy match. | Christian Cage |
