The focus was on the A Block as the NJPW Super Jr. Tag League rolled into its fifth night of action. Only three matches were on tap and it was the final night of action for A Block.
At the end of yesterday’s competition only three teams were left in contention in B Block. Yoh and Hyo, Robbie Eagles and Kosei Fujita, Blake Christian and Lee Johnson are all tied at six points each.
You have to feel bad for Mistico. He was supposed to be teaming with El Desperado which would have made for an unstoppable team but with Despie’s injury, Mistico was teamed with Young Lion Yuto Yasuda. They have only one match of the tournament. Tonight was no different as Taguchi made Yasuda submit to the Ankle Lock. Mistico helped Yasuda to the back.
House of Torture (DOUKI and Yoshinobu Kanemaru) had to win tonight’s match and hope that Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X would lose so they could continue on in the tournament. They faced Master Wato and KUUKAI who only had two points. The House jumped their competition before the bell even rang. Surprised? Not in the least.
Wato and KUUKAI leapt at Douki and Kanemaru on the floor at exactly the same time wiping them out. Back in the ring, Wato splashed Douki in a corner, went down on all fours to allow KUUKAI to his a running drop kick. Wato hit the TTD as KUUKAI landed a moonsault from the top rope. Kanumaru broke the pinfall up though.
Kanemaru drags Wato to the floor. KUUKAI escapes Douki’s Darkness Stretch. KUUKAI is kicked off into the ropes. Kanemaru spits whiskey in his face. Douki pins him with Suplex De La Luna to keep their tournament dreams alive.
In the final match, KUSHIDA and Nick Wayne were playing the role of spoilers as they took on Unbound Company’s Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X.
In the final moments of their match, Wayne hit a stunner and as X flew backwards Kushida put him in a Hoverboard Lock. Great exchange there.
Ishimori isn’t the legal man but that doesn’t stop him from putting Kushida in a Bone Lock. Wayne super kicked Ishimori in the face. Ishimori springboards off the ropes. Kushida catches him with a kick.
X takes out Wayne with a cutter off the ropes. He then splashes him on the floor. Kushida puts Ishimori in a standing Hoverboard Lock. Ishimori escapes with a Bloody Cross pinning Kushida.
Ishimori and X are in the finals of the tournament.
The NJPW SUPER Jr. TAG LEAGUE 2026 runs from October 24 to November 3, 2026. Each time will only wrestle five times in the tournament.
