It was an event that outshone anything the bland and boring WWE and the incoherent and directionless AEW has done this year.
Power Struggle proved that NJPW can outshine North America’s Big Two and did so while setting up their biggest show of the year: Wrestle Kingdom.
To be fair, many AEW stars are involved in NJPW’s version of WrestleMania but they are being used more precisely and with purpose rather than they are in AEW.
MJF appeared via video screen laying out a challenge once again to NJPW superstar Oiwa Fujita of TMDK.
After Fujita and Hartley Jackson beat Lee Johnson and Blake Christian at Power Struggle, MJF appeared on the Big Screen laying down a Wrestle Kingdom challenge.
“It is the one true champion, Maxwell Jacob Freeman, again. As you know, I am from the only country that matters: The United States of America while you hail from Japan which is a Third World country. I come from AEW, a place where the best wrestle. You come from New Japan, a place where the best leave. I’m a World Champion. I have beaten every name in this industry: Ospreay, Omega, Moxley, just to name a few. Meanwhile, you lost to that skinny, fat dork, Tsuji. A fake champion and he beat the ever-loving s–t out of you like you owed him money,” said MJF.

“Yet, here I am. Here I am once again offering you the opportunity of a lifetime to wrestle me for the only championship that matters, the Triple B. Hell, I will even sweeten up the deal. I will let you wrestle me on the one show that everyone in New Japan kills to be on: Wrestle Kingdom. If you choose to accept my challenge I will beat you in the middle of the ring, in the middle of that crappy Tokyo Dome with a move that is as simple as a headlock takeover,” he added.
He then mocked Fujita some more before signing off.
“So, Oiwa. They call you The Grip. I find that name to be quite apropos because if you wrestle me, when I am done with you, you will have embarrassed yourself, your company and your country. So they only thing you will be gripping is a sword to commit seppuku (hara-kiri) because a big Hebrew,” he said kissing his ring.
Fujita grabbed a microphone and gave his response.
“This is the second time you have sent a video message. The weakest dogs sure do bark a lot. I will make you submit in the Tokyo Dome and don’t you dare disrespect NJPW,” he answered.
MJF wasn’t the only superstar sending a video message. A man in a hoodie appeared on the Big Screen after YOH, Hyo and Shota Umino defeated the House of Torture (SHO, Dick Togo and Yujiro Takahashi).
The mysterious figure addressed Yoh, the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion.

Speaking in Japanese the figure said: “You haven’t faced me in a title match. How dare you call yourself a champion. I am next. At the Tokyo Dome I will challenge for that belt but I have a condition. I am a fantastic wrestler and if I give you the honor of wrestling me and you lose to me, you can never be in that ring again. If you lose to me, you will be thrown out of NJPW. I am going to take that belt and make that match your last in New Japan. I am going to beat you up.”
The person on the Big Screen then appeared attacking Yoh. Yoh ducked their belt shot and punched them in the “lower abdomen”. Yoh ripped off the mask and hoodie to reveal…Sho.
“If you have something to say you can say it to my face,” said Yoh agreeing to the match but he also wants to add a stipulation of his own.
If Sho loses to Yoh, he has to leave the House of Torture.
In another stunner of a development, Outbound Co. (Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X) defeated TMDK (Robbie Eagles and Kosei Fujita) to win Super Junior Tag League 2026.
As they were celebrating, Mistico came out with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. Since El Desperado is currently injured and they cannot defend the titles, Mistico wants to vacate the titles and prepares to hand them over to Outbound Co. since they earned a match for the belts at Wrestle Kingdom. Mistico just demands a match for the belts in future.
Eagles and Fujita are called back into the ring by Ishimori.
Ishimori thinks a better solution is a three-way match for the vacant titles. Everyone agrees, including Mistico.
In the main event, Gabe Kidd defeated Taichi to retain the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. Kidd demanded that NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi put the belt around his waist.
The Ace did so and they shook hands. Kidd punched Tanahashi in the face and threw the belt to the arena floor. He then piledrove Tanahashi.

“You piece of s–t! Get out of here!” yelled commentator Walker Stewart.
Yuya Uemura stormed the ring unloading on Kidd.
“I will not let you do what you want with NJPW any more! I am going to put an end to you! Wherever it is! Whenever it is! Fight me!” Uemura declared.
Moxley attacked Uemura from behind with a Death Rider. They then stomped the crap out of Uemura until Shingo Takagi came down to fight off Moxley.
Kidd helped Moxley Death Driver Shingo as Kidd piledrove Uemura.
Kidd rolled The Ace in the ring.
On the microphone, Moxley said the Death Riders have no more time and no respect for NJPW.
