The United Empire team of Francesco Akira and Jakob Austin Young were not only handed their very first loss of the Super Junior Tag League tournament today but their team appeared to be coming apart at the seams.
In the dying moments of the match, Akira runs the ropes and finally kicks Yoh in the back of the head. Young hits Jacob’s Ladder on Yoh for a two count. Young bounces off the ropes and takes double knees to the face from both Yoh and Hyo. Yoh ducks and Akira almost kicks Young in the face. Yoh whips Akira into a Young clothesline. Hyo hits a stunner on Young. Yoh cradles him for the win.
Akira ripped into Young after the match as Zane Jay tried to play mediator.
“I tried to help you!” said Akira offering his hand.
Young slapped it away.
“How many times did I save him yesterday!” yelled Young at the announce table. He walked away in disgust with Jay following him.
Akira left by a separate entrance.
In their first match of the tournament, Young blind tagged himself in as Akira went for a pin but he is waved off. Young captured the pinfall and the win. Akira was rightfully confused but a win is a win, I guess. Akira left the ring shaking his head.
Yesterday, Young saved Akira from multiple pinfalls that would have cost the team the match.
One other note is that The Swirl are really rocking the tournament. Such an fast and furious tag team pulling off some incredible stuff in the ring. Why aren’t they regularily on the main roster in AEW?
The NJPW SUPER Jr. TAG LEAGUE 2026 runs from October 24 to November 3, 2026. Each time will only wrestle five times in the tournament.

The chronicles of MyonMyon continue. The House comes out with Hyo’s toy cat mascot, the plushie MyonMyon, in a small cage. Sho shoves the official into Eagles. TMDK are about to double team Sho but Togo makes the save. Eagles and Sho literally fall into the official knocking him down and out as his head hits an exposed turnbuckle. You can have two guesses who exposed the turnbuckle. Fujita breaks out of Togo’s chokehold with a garotte. He starts strangling Togo with the cord. The cheers like crazy until Sho hits Fujita with a low-blow from behind.
Eagles drops Sho with a modified Turbo Backpack but…there is no official. Eagles goes to kick Sho. Sho has House of Torture’s toy, plushie mascot, Black Myon, in his hands to block the kick. Eagle shrugs. He kicks Sho any way and ends up with an injured foot. Sho hits him in the head with Black Myon. Eagle is out cold. Sho pins him.
