AEW Dynamite opened with the AEW World Tag Team Championship on the line as Christian Cage and Adam Copeland defended against Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia. Kenny Omega also addressed his return to the top of the company, while Kevin Knight challenged the AEW World Champion ahead of Redemption.
Elsewhere, Andrade El Idolo competed with MJF‘s Dynamite Diamond Ring in his possession, and several rivalries continued to escalate as All In approached.
AEW World Tag Team Title Match: Christian Cage and Adam Copeland (c) vs. Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia
Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz welcomed viewers as Christian Cage and Adam Copeland made their way to the ring for the opening contest. Wheeler, Yuta, and Daniel Garcia followed, representing the Death Riders.
The champions attempted to establish control during the early exchanges, but Yuta and Garcia quickly resorted to underhanded tactics. Copeland became trapped in the ring skirt, allowing both challengers to stomp him repeatedly while the referee was distracted by Cage.
Yuta continued isolating Copeland following the commercial break, preventing him from reaching his corner before raining down strikes across his back. He placed Copeland on the top rope and continued attacking him, but Copeland escaped by biting Yuta’s head before finally making the tag.
Cage entered with a burst of momentum, unloading on Yuta before knocking Garcia from the apron. He attempted the Killswitch, but Yuta escaped, only to be planted with a reverse DDT.
The veteran then sent Garcia crashing into Yuta before slapping him and launching him to the outside with a back body drop. Cage followed with a diving headbutt from the middle rope, but Yuta kicked out of the resulting cover.
Garcia attacked Cage from behind while Yuta cut off Copeland as he tried to enter the ring. The challengers attempted to send the champions crashing into each other, but Cage and Copeland stopped their momentum before Garcia was sent through the ropes.
Cage again bit Yuta and climbed the ropes, but Garcia tripped him, causing Cage to crash groin-first into the turnbuckle. Yuta looked to capitalise, but Copeland recovered and delivered a spear to secure the successful title defence.
Winners: Christian Cage and Adam Copeland
The Young Bucks were shown watching the match from the crowd as the champions celebrated.
The scene quickly descended into chaos when David Finlay, Clark Connors and Claudio Castagnoli attacked Cage and Copeland. The Bang Bang Gang, without Jay White, rushed to the ring to fight The Dogs and the Death Riders.
Finlay prepared to use his shillelagh, but White made a surprise appearance and pulled the weapon away from him. Cage confronted White moments later, forcing Copeland and the rest of the Bang Bang Gang to calm the situation before it escalated.
Backstage, Renee Paquette spoke with Andrade El Idolo following his recent issues with MJF and the Don Callis Family.
Renee Paquette then interviewed Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong backstage.
The Demand confronted the trio, but Ricochet claimed he had promised that none of his group would attack The Conglomeration.
That statement proved technically accurate when Jay Lethal, Lee Johnson and Blake Christian suddenly attacked Cassidy, O’Reilly and Strong from behind. Ricochet watched the assault before noting that The Demand had not attacked them, at least not yet.
Andrade El Idolo vs. Jake Doyle
Jake Doyle made his way to the ring before Andrade arrived carrying MJF’s Dynamite Diamond Ring.
Doyle used his size advantage immediately, sending Andrade through the middle rope before delivering a splash in the corner. Andrade responded with a hurricanrana and a kick to the face before landing another hurricanrana from the apron to the floor.
Andrade briefly paused to take a selfie with a woman in the crowd before returning to the ring and climbing to the top rope. Doyle used the ropes to knock him off balance before catching him with a chokeslam onto the apron.
Following the commercial break, Andrade fought back with a clothesline and right hand before sending Doyle face-first into the middle rope. He followed with a moonsault from the middle turnbuckle and returned his opponent to the ring.
Doyle answered with a powerbomb, but Andrade regained control and delivered the Three Amigos. A meteora in the corner earned Andrade a near fall before Doyle connected with another heavy right hand and elbow.
Andrade kicked out at the last possible moment before planting Doyle with The Message to secure another victory.
Winner: Andrade El Idolo
Mark Davis confronted Andrade after the match, but quickly reconsidered when Andrade placed the Dynamite Diamond Ring on his finger.
Tony Schiavone introduced Kenny Omega, who entered as the new AEW World Champion following his victory over MJF.
The Young Bucks joined Omega in the ring, with Nick Jackson carrying a covered object.
Matt Jackson said he and Nick Jackson wanted to keep the moment brief before reflecting on their nearly 20-year friendship with Omega. Matt praised Omega for winning the AEW World Championship on his own and proving he remained the best professional wrestler in the world.
Matt admitted it bothered him to see Omega carrying MJF’s custom version of the championship. Nick then revealed the original AEW World Championship belt and presented it to Omega.
Omega reflected that more than 1,000 days had passed since his previous world title reign. He admitted there had been times when he doubted whether he would ever hold the championship again.
The new champion thanked his friends, family and AEW fans for continuing to believe in him when he had stopped believing in himself. Omega said he would have given up long ago without their support and acknowledged he was never expected to become a two-time AEW World Champion.
With fewer than 50 days remaining until All In, Omega promised fans would see the best version of him at the event.
Will Ospreay interrupted and made his way to the ring.
Ospreay congratulated Omega on becoming AEW World Champion again and praised him for refusing to give up during the match against MJF. He recalled watching MJF strike Omega with the championship belt and believing the match was finished before Omega somehow kicked out.
Ospreay declared that one of the greatest wrestlers of all time was officially back. He then acknowledged that tensions would inevitably rise between himself and Omega as they moved closer to All In.
Ospreay called Omega his hero of the past decade and said the pair would continue to show fans why they occupy their current positions. He vowed they would prove AEW was where the best wrestling was when they reached All In.
Before Omega and Ospreay could shake hands, Kevin Knight interrupted.
Knight congratulated Omega before reminding him that he was still owed an AEW World Championship opportunity.
Declaring himself ready to become “Jet Two Belts”, Knight challenged Omega to defend the championship against him at Redemption.
Omega accepted but questioned why Knight was taking promises from MJF. He said he had recognised something special in Knight from the first time he saw him wrestle, but believed Knight had made a mistake by aligning himself with Don Callis.
Omega accused Callis of destroying Knight’s confidence and insisted the young star did not need the Don Callis Family to succeed.
The champion then told Knight that the only fraud he saw in the ring was Knight himself. Omega said he knew Knight was not acting like himself and believed there was still goodness within him.
Omega agreed to defend the title at Redemption on July 26, but demanded that Knight face him alone as “The Jet” rather than as Don Callis’ lap dog.
Knight rejected Omega’s assessment, saying there was no goodness left in his heart, only greatness. He then struck Omega without warning.
Ospreay attempted to respond with the Hidden Blade, but Knight escaped to the floor. Darby Allin attacked Knight on the entrance ramp before several members of the Don Callis Family ran towards the ring.
The Death Riders then entered to stand alongside Ospreay, creating another tense confrontation between AEW’s leading factions.
Brody King and Bandido vs. Aaron Solo and Nick Comoroto
Brody King and Bandido were next in action against Aaron Solo and Nick Comoroto.
Bandido immediately demonstrated his strength by lifting Comoroto into a Gorilla Press. King tagged in and helped Bandido deliver a splash before following with one of his own.
King covered Comoroto, but Solo broke up the pin. Bandido responded by climbing to the top rope and delivering a splash onto both opponents before pinning them simultaneously.
Winners: Brody King and Bandido
AEW International Championship Match: Kyle Fletcher (c) vs. Komander
Following the earlier confrontation involving the Don Callis Family, Kyle Fletcher headed to the ring to defend the AEW International Championship against Komander. Don Callis joined the commentary team while Lance Archer accompanied the champion to ringside.
Komander exploded out of the blocks, immediately sending Fletcher over the top rope before walking the ropes and launching himself onto the champion at ringside. Fletcher quickly regained control, driving Komander spine-first into the ring apron before flooring him with a big boot.
Back from the commercial break, Komander rallied with a series of high-flying attacks. He sent Fletcher crashing onto the commentary desk with a spectacular hurricanrana before returning him to the ring.
Komander followed with an impressive Canadian Destroyer from the top rope, but Fletcher somehow kicked out.
The champion weathered the storm before catching Komander with a devastating Brainbuster to retain the championship.
Winner: Kyle Fletcher
After the bell, Fletcher attempted to remove Komander’s mask until Konosuke Takeshita sprinted to the ring. Takeshita dropped Fletcher with a right hand before picking up the AEW International Championship.
His celebration was cut short when Kazuchika Okada blindsided him with a Rainmaker. Okada briefly held the championship belt and appeared reluctant to return it to Fletcher before Brody King and Bandido rushed back to the ring, forcing Okada and Fletcher to retreat as they came to Takeshita’s aid.
A pre-recorded message from Jericho aired next.
Jericho announced that he would resurrect his Painmaker persona when he faced Tommaso Ciampa at Redemption.
Ciampa accepted the challenge before announcing he would issue an open challenge on this Saturday’s edition of Collision in his hometown.
Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage
Darby Allin looked to continue his recent momentum against Brian Cage.
The powerhouse wasted little time asserting his dominance, sidestepping Allin’s opening dive before hoisting him into a delayed vertical suplex position and dropping him face-first onto the entrance ramp.
Following the commercial break, Allin fought back with a Code Red before launching himself through the ropes onto Cage on the entranceway.
Cage answered with another crushing right hand and hurled Allin into the ring post.
Both men narrowly beat the referee’s count back into the ring. Allin capitalised by climbing to the top rope and connecting with one Coffin Drop before immediately delivering a second to score the pinfall.
Winner: Darby Allin
The victory continued Allin’s recent resurgence as he remained firmly in the championship conversation heading towards Redemption.
Willow Nightingale, Hyan and Maya World vs. Mercedes Mone, Megan Bayne and Lena Kross
The main event saw Mercedes Mone team with Megan Bayne and Lena Kross, collectively known as Divine Dominion, against Willow Nightingale, Hyan and Maya World.
Mone started opposite Nightingale before quickly tagging out to Bayne. The heels immediately attempted to use their size advantage, with Bayne and Kross throwing Hyan and World around the ring with fallaway slams.
The babyfaces responded with impressive teamwork, isolating Kross before wiping out all three opponents with dives to the outside.
Back from the break, Mone drilled both World and Hyan with simultaneous lungblowers while Bayne held them in place.
Nightingale received the hot tag and flattened Bayne with a spinebuster before Mone broke up the cover. Hyan followed with a shotgun dropkick on Mone before Kross intercepted her with a boot.
Momentum continued to swing back and forth as Maya World landed a missile dropkick, while Nightingale levelled Bayne with a shoulder tackle before Mone dumped her to the floor.
The closing stretch saw Hyan come within inches of pinning Mone after a spear, but the former TBS Champion kicked out before delivering the Mone Maker to Hyan for the decisive victory.
Winner: Mercedes Mone, Megan Bayne and Lena Kross
Following the match, Mone addressed the crowd from the entrance stage.
With Bayne and Kross standing behind her, Mone declared that it made no difference whether Thekla or Willow Nightingale left Redemption as AEW Women’s World Champion, insisting she would be waiting with her guaranteed championship opportunity at All In.
The show closed with Mone standing confidently on the stage alongside Divine Dominion as she continued to send a message to the rest of AEW’s women’s division.
