WWE Raw took place from Buffalo, New York, with Roman Reigns looking to collect a receipt from Solo Sikoa after recent problems involving The Bloodline.
Elsewhere, two first-round matches took place in the tournament to determine the next challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship, Chad Gable defended the Intercontinental Championship against Rey Mysterio, and tensions between Bron Breakker and Oba Femi continued to escalate.
The show opened with a video package recapping the recent issues between The Bloodline and Sikoa before Michael Cole and Corey Graves welcomed viewers.
Stephanie Vaquer Calls Out Liv Morgan
Stephanie Vaquer opened the show in the ring and immediately turned her attention towards Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan. Vaquer said she was there for one reason: the Women’s World Championship, and challenged Morgan to come out and fight.
Morgan instead arrived alongside Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez. She addressed Becky Lynch’s criticism of her championship reign before reminding Vaquer that she had already beaten her at WrestleMania 42 and again the following week.
Morgan also pointed out that she was approaching the record for the longest Women’s World Championship reign. Vaquer responded by telling Morgan to stop running from her and get into the ring if she was not afraid.
Morgan, Rodriguez and Perez surrounded Vaquer before a fight broke out. Vaquer initially held her own, sending Perez and Rodriguez outside before trading blows with Morgan.
The numbers eventually caught up with her when Perez attacked Vaquer’s leg, allowing Rodriguez to join the assault.
Becky Lynch then ran down to make the save. Lynch sent Morgan and Perez into the barricade before Rodriguez attacked her and threw her into the ring.
Lynch recovered and sent Rodriguez back outside before getting into an argument with Vaquer. Morgan took advantage by pulling Lynch out of the ring and sending her into the ring post.
Vaquer wiped out Morgan with a crossbody from the apron, but Rodriguez responded with a big boot. Morgan then hit Vaquer with a Codebreaker before Perez followed with Pop Rox, leaving Vaquer down.
Je’Von Evans vs. JD McDonagh (w/ Dominik Mysterio)
Je’Von Evans faced JD McDonagh in the first match of the night, with Dominik Mysterio accompanying McDonagh to ringside.
McDonagh slapped Evans after the bell, but Evans quickly increased the pace and eventually clotheslined his opponent over the barricade. Evans followed him outside and launched himself over the barricade, sending McDonagh onto a nearby chair.
Dominik attempted to interfere when the action returned to the ring. Evans fought him off, but the distraction allowed McDonagh to take control and begin targeting Evans’ left leg.
McDonagh repeatedly sent the leg into the ring post before applying a submission hold. Evans fought back with a springboard flipping kick and a clothesline from the top rope.
McDonagh survived a pin attempt and responded with a headbutt before firing several kicks at Evans. He headed to the top rope, where Evans joined him, but McDonagh pulled Evans down into the top turnbuckle.
McDonagh attempted a moonsault, but Evans moved out of the way and connected with the OG Cutter to secure the victory.
Winner: Je’Von Evans
After the match, Big Cass attacked Evans from behind and delivered East River Crossing. Evans refused to stay down and challenged Cass to continue, leading to another fight.
Evans initially caught Cass with a right hand before diving through the ropes onto him. Dominik then intervened and sent Evans into the ring post.
Cass took advantage by throwing Evans spine-first into the barricade twice before returning him to the ring and finishing the assault with a big boot.
WWE World Heavyweight Title #1 Contendership Tournament First Round Match: Rey Fenix vs. El Fiscal
Rey Fenix and El Fiscal met in the first World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 contendership tournament match of the night.
Fiscal attempted to use his strength early and lifted Fenix onto his shoulders, but Fenix escaped and connected with a springboard flipping cutter.
The action moved towards the ropes, where Fenix fought off Fiscal before running along the top rope and knocking him to the floor with a kick. Fenix then followed with a crossbody from the top rope to the outside.
After the commercial break, Fenix connected with a jumping knee in the corner and placed Fiscal on the top rope.
Fenix lifted Fiscal onto his shoulders and delivered a Mexican Muscle Buster to advance in the tournament.
Winner: Rey Fenix
Sol Ruca vs. Lyra Valkyria
Sol Ruca went one-on-one with Lyra Valkyria in the next match.
The two exchanged offence early before Ruca caught Valkyria with a kick from the apron and launched herself from the middle rope to take her opponent down on the floor.
Valkyria turned things around by tripping Ruca on the ropes and following with a series of right hands. During the commercial break, she catapulted Ruca face-first into the bottom rope before applying a crossface.
Ruca eventually powered back to her feet. Valkyria headed to the top rope, but Ruca caught her with a kick to the midsection and followed with a knee strike.
Ruca connected with a German suplex before Valkyria responded with a leg drop from the top rope for a near fall.
Valkyria could not capitalise, however, as Ruca caught her with the Sol Snatcher to pick up the victory.
Winner: Sol Ruca
Bron Breakker Calls Out Oba Femi
Bron Breakker came to the ring and called out Oba Femi, saying that if Femi wanted to be considered the future of WWE, he should come and take that position from him.
Paul Heyman appeared instead. Breakker demanded that Heyman answer the question of who he believes represents WWE’s future, but Femi interrupted before he could respond.
Femi told Breakker he was asking a question everyone already knew the answer to. He claimed that Breakker, the fans and even Brock Lesnar knew that Femi was WWE’s future.
Breakker challenged Femi to settle the issue immediately, but Heyman warned Breakker that taking another step towards Femi would mean taking a permanent step away from him.
Heyman explained that WWE answered not only to its audience but also to its shareholders, meaning a match between two potential main event stars was too important to happen without being promoted in advance.
Heyman then revealed that he had spoken with Raw General Manager Adam Pearce, who made Breakker vs. Femi official for Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6.
The match will determine which man can back up his claim of being the future of WWE.
WWE World Heavyweight Title #1 Contendership Tournament First Round Match: Dragon Lee vs. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.
Dragon Lee faced El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr. in the second World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 contendership tournament match.
Both men exchanged shoulder tackles before Wagner gained the advantage and connected with a forearm in the corner.
Wagner followed with a cannonball from the apron onto Lee outside the ring. He continued to control the match after returning Lee to the ring and later scored a near fall following a superkick.
Wagner maintained control during the commercial break with a submission hold. Lee escaped, but Wagner drove him face-first into the mat before connecting with a boot and Frog Splash from the top rope for another near fall.
Wagner then delivered a superplex and attempted to transition immediately into another move.
Lee countered and connected with Operation Dragon to score the victory and advance in the tournament.
Winner: Dragon Lee
WWE Intercontinental Title Match: Chad Gable (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
Chad Gable defended the Intercontinental Championship against Rey Mysterio.
Gable used his strength to take control early and later targeted Mysterio’s knee with a submission hold. Mysterio fought back with a Crucifix Bomb before taking Gable down on the outside with a springboard moonsault.
Gable responded with a diving headbutt from the top rope for a near fall.
Mysterio connected with a sit-out senton before attempting another aerial attack, but Gable caught him. Mysterio countered into a Tornado DDT and scored another near fall before Gable responded with an Angle Slam from the middle rope.
Gable applied the Ankle Lock, but Mysterio escaped and attempted the 619. Gable avoided it and went back to the Ankle Lock, only for Mysterio to escape once again.
Mysterio finally connected with the 619 and climbed to the top rope looking for a Frog Splash. Gable saw him coming and caught Mysterio in another Ankle Lock.
Mysterio attempted to escape by rolling Gable into a pin, but the champion reversed the position into a roll-up of his own and scored the three count to retain his championship.
Winner: Chad Gable
After the match, Gable showed respect to Mysterio by embracing him and raising his arm.
Solo Sikoa Is Delivered To Roman Reigns
The Bloodline came to the ring for the final segment of Raw, with Roman Reigns demanding that Buffalo acknowledge him.
Reigns said he had a receipt to collect and demanded that Solo Sikoa be brought to him.
Jey and Jimmy Uso then appeared alongside Sikoa and escorted him towards the ring. Reigns told Sikoa that the sight of him made him sick before reminding him of their Tribal Combat match on the January 6 episode of Raw.
A video package then recapped the recent history between Reigns and Sikoa.
Reigns mocked Sikoa’s new attitude and questioned why he was looking him in the eyes rather than begging on his knees. Jacob Fatu suddenly caught Sikoa with a superkick before applying the Tongan Death Grip.
Reigns eventually ordered Fatu to stop, telling Sikoa that he had other business to handle first.
Reigns turned his attention towards The Usos and declared that although he remained the Tribal Chief, Jey and Jimmy were now his captains. He then placed black Ula Falas around both men’s necks.
LA Knight interrupted before the ceremony could continue and immediately attacked Jey and Jimmy. Fatu attempted to stop Knight, but Reigns held him back before catching Knight himself with a Superman Punch.
Reigns considered continuing the attack but instead ordered Sikoa to finish Knight. Jey and Jimmy held Knight in place as Reigns told Sikoa that he had dragged Knight into the situation and would now be responsible for sending him home.
Sikoa apologised to Knight, but rather than attack him, he suddenly turned and hit Reigns with the Samoan Spike.
Sikoa threw Jey out of the ring as Knight connected with the BFT on Fatu. Sikoa then sent Jey spine-first into the barricade and hit him with another Samoan Spike.
Back inside the ring, Knight delivered the BFT to Reigns.
Sikoa and Knight then fist-bumped before leaving the ring together. The pair stood at the bottom of the entrance ramp, having forged an unexpected alliance as Raw went off the air.
