Almost every title in NXT changed hands at Heat Wave last weekend. It is just a shame that with all the talent it has the promotion isn’t treated with more respect. I am talking to you, the crowd who took in AAA but not NXT at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas. NXT deserved better than that.
Onto this week’s show…
Zilla Fatu comes to the ring to address the NXT universe.
Fatu! Fatu!
Fatu admits he didn’t get the job done last weekend. Then, again, he was fighting for the championship in his first NXT match so he is fortunate and lucky.
Tristan Angels interrupts. He say the Universe has the attention of fruit flies and are bored of him already.
“Let me simplify things. Zilla, you lost,” says Angels who claims Fatu is not the “main one” in NXT or even his own family. The further we go down the Bloodline we go, the less talent we find, says Angels.
Zilla calls Angels “Gangrel Jr.”.
“I like your accent. I don’t like your attitude,” says Zilla.
Zilla challenges Angels to a match, He accepts. He tries to sucker punch Zilla. Zilla blocks and punches him.
In the back, GM Stone is watching the action and is definitely making that match for tonight. EK Prosper and Saquon Shugars want to challenge champ Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship. Stone says he will consider what they are saying mentioning they deserve to move to the next level. Keanu Carver stops by. Carver makes his case too to face Grayson.
We review Myles Borne’s social media post. He says he doesn’t regret defending both titles at the event. “I took a big swing and I struck out,” he says. “I got you before you got me, Tavion,” he continues.
Shiloh Hill versus Naraku
Naraku shoves Hill off the top rope and slams his head into the ring apron. Hill fights back doing the same thing to Naraku including a flying clothesline from the top rope. Naraku drops Hill throat-first on the top rope. In a corner, Naraku spits his green mist on his hand. He fakes spitting the mist. Both the official and Hill duck. Naraku rubs the mist into Hill’s face, eyes. Naraku pins Hill.
Winner: Naraku
Noam Dar, Romeo Moreno, Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux are chatting in the back. They get into an argument. Legacy tries to calm DVD down. They argue over who is on the rise in the tag team division.
Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno versus Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux
Dar backdrops Legacy over the top rope. He falls to the floor holding his knee. Legacy puts Dar on his shoulders then dump him on the apron. DVD hoists Moreno up dropping him on his knee. Dar and Moreno go for their double-team finisher but nail each other when Legacy ducks. Romeo is knocked out. Legacy slams Dar. DVD splashes Dar from the top rope. Legacy goes for his splash. Dar puts up his knees. He pins Legacy.
Winners: Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno
The Creed Brothers return to NXT. They attack everyone laying them out. I guess they got bumped off the main roster.
Zaria hands the Speed Championship over to GM Stone. Stone then asks Lexis King for his Speed Championship because it too is “defunct”. Why? What kind of logic is that? The BirthRight is not happy about this decision at all. “You may be able to take this title away from me but you will never be able to take away our BirthRight,” says King. BirthRight says they are going to start taking what is theirs.
Next in, Cruz Montana. He has a request for Stone. Montana versus Waller for the NXT Championship. Carver is back. He tells Stone it sucks to be him.
Kelani Jordan, the new NXT Women’s Champion has arrived backstage. She explains how she has been overlooked and undervalued. Jaida Parker interrupts. Parker says Jordan earned the title but she made Nattie tap out. Parker reminds Jordan that she already beat her. She wants to face Jordan tonight. Jordan says she will see Parker next week not tonight.
Nikkita Lyons versus Thea Hail
Lyons suplexes Hail over. Lyons kicks Hail in the head. Lyons misses her splash. Hail splashes Lyons.
Winner: Thea Hail
Mason Rook versus Kam Hendrix
Rook attacks Hendrix as he makes his entrance. Hendrix removes a turnbuckle pad. The official reprimands Hendrix. Rook clotheslines Hendrix from behind. Hendrix hits the exposed turnbuckle. Rook whips Hendrix into the turnbuckle, catches him and backdrops him. Rook scores his first singles victory powerslamming Hendrix.
Winner: Mason Rook
Tavion Heights is interviewed by Sarah Schreiber backstage. Heights is angry and frustrated. He feels betrayed. Heights says he would never have treated Borne the same way. He would never have stabbed him in the back. The Vanity Projects shows up claiming Heights and Borne were never friends. Jackson Drake, the new NXT North American Champion, would love to give Heights more to cry about so he is going to ask Stone for a match.
Zilla Fatu versus Tristan Angels
Angels tries to frustrate Fatu early on ducking out of the ring and into the ropes. A head butt and a chop shuts down Angels’ attitude. A chops leaves Angels in the ropes. Zilla gives him a flying head butt. Angels takes some of the fight out of Zilla by guillotining him over the ropes. Fatu hurls Angels to the floor. He slides back into the ring. Zilla clotheslines him out again. Zilla splashes him over the announce table.
Angels knocks Fatu off the top rope with a kick to the mouth or head. Fatu comes up with a bleeding mouth. Zilla bounces Angels’ head off the steps. Zilla fights off an attempted Superplex pushing Angels off the ropes. Angels goes for a kick to the head. Zilla does nothing but sit in the corner. Angels misses. Huh? Whaaaaat?
Super kick from Zilla, Samoan Drop and the Triple Z for the win.
Winner: Zilla Fatu
The BirthRight surrounds the ring. They explain that he is just like them and destined for greatness. He is asked to join them.
Zilla replies with his really weird catchphrase…”Heeeello? More like, hell no!”.
He shoves past King. King takes exception and gets super kicked in the face. BirthRight rushes Zilla. Zilla flees the ring.
The new NXT Champion, Grayson Waller, speaks to the Universe. Waller goes over his accomplishments in his career. He thanks one person: Grayson Waller. Waller runs down the list of his potential challengers. He wonders who he will take on next?
Saquon Shugars is out. He is the answer to Waller’s question. Waller doesn’t take Shugars seriously. He is wearing half a shirt after all.
Cruz Montana arrives next. Waller didn’t beat him at Heat Wave.
EK Prosper enters the conversation. He tells Cruz that he has had his shot already.
And…now Mason Rook is out. He doesn’t think Waller is so tough.
“We need the widescreen camera. Mason is here,” laughs Waller.
Tony D’Angelo flubs them all off. He above anyone deserves a rematch.
GM Stone attempts to restore some order. Keanu Carver comes out. He has a suggestion. How about a six-man tag for next week. The winning team battles in a triple threat the following week for the right to face Waller. Stone says it is a great idea but there are only five people in the ring. Karver advises Stone to make the right decision. WINK. Everyone starts brawling as Waller sits on the announce table smiling.
