This week’s special three-hour edition of AEW Dynamite opened on an emotional note as Tony Schiavone stood in the ring to honour media pioneer Ted Turner following news of his passing earlier in the day.
Schiavone spoke passionately about Turner’s love for professional wrestling and the impact he had on the industry through TBS and TNT. He then introduced Sting, who made his way to the ring to a loud ovation from the North Charleston crowd. Sting reflected on Turner’s influence and thanked him for everything he did for wrestling over the decades. Schiavone also pointed out special Turner Techwood Mansion sideplates featured on both the TNT and TBS Championships throughout the night in tribute to Turner.
Following the tribute, the show shifted into action as Jon Moxley headed to the ring for an AEW Continental Title Eliminator Match against Juice Robinson.
Jon Moxley vs. Juice Robinson
Moxley immediately targeted Robinson’s hand, snapping his fingers before Robinson regrouped on the outside. Robinson answered back aggressively, sending Moxley crashing into the timekeeper’s area before launching himself off the table with a double axe handle as Moxley sat in a chair.
The match quickly became physical, with Robinson firing off chops and power moves while Moxley relied on brutality and submissions. Robinson scored several close nearfalls after a cannonball and a hurricanrana from the ropes, but Moxley weathered the storm and eventually drove Robinson into the mat with a piledriver.
Robinson somehow kicked out, but Moxley immediately trapped him in the Bulldog Choke. Robinson faded moments later, giving Moxley the submission victory.
Winner: Jon Moxley
After the match, a backstage video aired showing Will Ospreay training alongside The Death Riders. Wheeler Yuta used Ospreay as a decline bench while doing sit-ups as Marina Shafir delivered kicks to Moxley’s midsection. Moxley later addressed Ospreay directly, calling him different from the rest of AEW and warning him that the final stretch of his journey would be the hardest part yet.
Chaos erupted next as multiple factions gathered ringside for a Double Jeopardy match involving Orange Cassidy and Dax Harwood. FTR, Stokely, Tommaso Ciampa, Mark Davis, Trent Beretta, Rocky Romero and The Dogs all arrived first, followed by Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, The Young Bucks, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.
Orange Cassidy vs. Dax Harwood
Harwood targeted Cassidy’s arm throughout the match, with outside interference constantly creating openings. Cassidy fought back with a Tornado DDT and his trademark hands-in-pockets offence, while Harwood mockingly copied Cassidy’s signature spots.
The action spilled all over ringside, and things became even more chaotic when David Finlay interfered behind the referee’s back. Harwood attempted to use the ring bell as a weapon, but the distraction backfired. Cassidy capitalised moments later, rolling Harwood up for the victory after escaping an armbar attempt.
Winner: Orange Cassidy
Following the bell, a massive brawl broke out involving nearly everyone at ringside. Rocky Romero ended up isolated in the ring before being attacked by multiple members of the opposing group, including a low blow from Christian Cage.
Backstage earlier in the night, Chris Jericho told Renee Paquette he was done talking about The Demand and wanted to fight. Jericho later stormed through the crowd and demanded Ricochet meet him face-to-face.
Ricochet arrived alongside Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun and mocked Jericho for continuing to show up despite repeated beatdowns. He proposed a Stadium Stampede match for AEW Double or Nothing and questioned where Jericho would find partners this time around.
Jericho attacked The Demand immediately, but the numbers game caught up to him until The Hurt Syndicate hit the ring to even the odds.
AEW International Title Match: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Bryan Keith
Kazuchika Okada defended the AEW International Championship against Bryan Keith next.
Keith showed resilience throughout the bout and briefly stunned Okada with a headbutt after avoiding the Rainmaker. However, Okada regained control moments later and flattened Keith with the Rainmaker lariat for the victory.
Winner: Kazuchika Okada
After the match, Don Callis grabbed a microphone as Okada officially declared his intentions to challenge for the AEW World Championship.
The women’s division was showcased next as Mina Shirakawa teamed with Harley Cameron against Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander.
Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander vs. Mina Shirakawa and Harley Cameron
The match featured quick tags and frequent momentum swings, with Cameron impressing during several sequences against Statlander and Shida. Shirakawa also delivered heavy strikes throughout the contest.
Late in the match, Statlander neutralised Cameron with a big boot before Shida connected with a Falcon Arrow to score the pinfall.
Winners: Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander
The AEW World Championship was then on the line as Darby Allin defended against Kevin Knight.
AEW World Title Match: Darby Allin (c) vs. Kevin Knight
Allin started quickly, trapping Knight in submissions and targeting his injured left knee. Knight battled back with explosive athleticism, including a huge clothesline that sent Allin crashing over the commentary desk.
Knight nearly pulled off the upset after landing a Coast-To-Coast and a UFO Splash, but the delay in covering Allin proved costly. Allin recovered, applied a Guillotine, then finally put Knight away with a Coffin Drop.
Winner: Darby Allin
After the match, Sting returned to the ring and raised the hands of both competitors. Allin and Knight then shook hands in a show of respect.
That moment was interrupted by MJF, who once again demanded an AEW World Championship rematch. Allin refused unless MJF agreed to put something meaningful on the line.
MJF first offered his scarf, then his Dynamite Diamond Ring, then even $1 million. Allin rejected each proposal before finally revealing his demand: MJF would have to shave his head if he lost.
Allin announced a contract signing for next week and warned MJF that failing to appear would permanently cost him another title opportunity. MJF stormed away angrily, but the segment was not over.
Kazuchika Okada arrived and challenged Allin for the AEW World Championship next week. Allin immediately accepted.
AR Fox vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey
AR Fox and Mike Bailey delivered one of the night’s most athletic contests.
Both men traded counters, dives and rapid-fire kicks early before Bailey gained momentum with a missile dropkick. Fox answered with a corkscrew brainbuster and a huge tope suicida.
Fox narrowly missed Lo Mein Pain, allowing Bailey to capitalise with the Ultima Weapon for the victory.
Winner: “Speedball” Mike Bailey
Jamie Hayter vs. Skye Blue
Jamie Hayter battled Skye Blue in another hard-hitting contest.
Blue repeatedly targeted Hayter with kicks and submissions while Hayter answered with German suplexes, lariats and explosive strikes. Blue nearly stole the match with Code Blue, but Hayter recovered and ultimately finished the bout with Hayterade.
Winner: Jamie Hayter
After the match, Thekla and Julia Hart appeared in the crowd. Hayter responded by attacking Blue again before either woman could enter the ring.
Rush vs. Manny Lo
Rush made quick work of Manny Lo in a dominant squash match.
Lo attempted a handshake before the bell, but Rush immediately attacked him in the corner, connected with a running dropkick and scored the pinfall within moments.
Winner: Rush
Rush grabbed a microphone afterwards to shout his signature catchphrase to the crowd.
The massive main event then closed the show as The Young Bucks teamed with Bang Bang Gang against The Death Riders and The Dogs.
The Young Bucks and Bang Bang Gang vs. Death Riders and The Dogs
The match descended into chaos immediately as both teams brawled around ringside before the bell had barely settled.
The Bucks and Bang Bang Gang used quick tags and double-team offence to keep the advantage early, but Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta gradually shifted momentum with brutal strikes and power offence. David Finlay and Clark Connors also repeatedly isolated Ace Austin during lengthy stretches of the match.
As the contest broke down, nearly every wrestler hit their signature offence. The Bucks delivered Superkick Parties, Claudio launched opponents with uppercuts and giant swings, and Bang Bang Gang repeatedly countered with fast-paced tandem attacks.
The closing stretch saw all ten men trading finishers and nearfalls before Ace Austin finally connected with a neckbreaker on Wheeler Yuta to secure the victory.
Winners: The Young Bucks and Bang Bang Gang
After the match, Juice Robinson returned to celebrate alongside the victorious team as Dynamite went off the air.
