A WWE Hall of Famer believes one of WWE’s most visually striking personas, Finn Balor‘s demon character, only works when fans do not see it too often.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently discussed Finn Balor’s Demon character on his Grilling JR podcast, explaining why he feels the gimmick should remain a special attraction rather than becoming a regular feature on television.
“I like the Demon character,” Ross said. “But I don’t want to see it every week.”
Ross praised the character’s presentation and said the Demon’s visual aspect continues to make it highly effective in the right situations.
“It’s very photogenic. It’s good for TV,” Ross explained. “He’s a hell of a hand.”
The WWE Hall of Famer also praised Balor himself, describing him as one of the company’s most reliable and professional performers.
“I like the kid. I think he’s reliable, he works hard. He’s very skilled,” Ross added. “You never hear him hurting somebody or doing something stupid.”
When Did Finn Balor Last Use His Demon Gimmick?
Finn Balor brought back the Demon persona earlier this year at WrestleMania 42 for his Street Fight victory over former Judgment Day ally Dominik Mysterio. The appearance marked the first time Balor had used the Demon character in three years. Balor himself has also previously admitted that he prefers the character to remain unpredictable and special, rather than being heavily advertised in advance.
Reports last year suggested WWE had originally discussed bringing the Demon back earlier for a planned Balor vs. Mysterio match at SummerSlam before those plans changed. Ross believes keeping the character rare is exactly what helps preserve its impact.
“If it gets more eyeballs on Finn when he’s working Demon or no Demon, then it’s a win for everybody,” Ross said.
