Rey Mysterio is having too much fun to think about retirement.
Despite being over three decades into his career, Rey Mysterio has shown no signs of slowing down. Currently, the star appears as both AAA’s General Manager and an in-ring star in both AAA and WWE.
During an appearance on BANG Showbiz, Mysterio was asked about his previous plans to retire at 50, a milestone he hit over two years ago. The star said that now, he is enjoying his schedule and plans to “wing it” and see what happens.
“I’m loving the process right now of enjoying the moments as they come. Before, it was maybe a little bit more stressful because you were working constantly four or five days a week. But now it’s been like, okay, with the GM role in AAA and then wrestling on Raw, I kind of vibe that program. I don’t mind it at all. I enjoy it.”
“I’m still on both sides of the spectrum, and I’m learning as I’m growing still, so it’s really fun. I think I’m just going to wing it and see where this road takes me, because I’m really enjoying the moments right now that I’m living inside the ring, whether as a wrestler or as a GM.”
Rey Mysterio Addresses His Physical Health
Having remained injury-free for two years, Rey Mysterio says he is feeling “really, really good.” The last time he was injured, the star was forced to miss his scheduled WrestleMania 41 bout against Chad Gable. The two were finally able to make the match happen on the August 17th edition of Raw, when Gable defeated Mysterio to retain the Intercontinental Championship
“Really good, Really, really good, yes. No injuries, knock on wood. The last one I had was my groin, which was two years ago, prior to wrestling Chad Gable at WrestleMania. Finally, that match came true about a month ago, which was really cool. I kind of had that on my back, carrying it for that long until it happened. Once it happened, I’m like, ‘Oh, that feels good,’ and I’m glad that we felt we had a great match.”
