Sami Zayn has broken his silence after defeating CM Punk to become Undisputed WWE Champion for the second time.
Sami Zayn challenged CM Punk in the main event of SmackDown in Mexico City, nearly three months after losing the championship to The Best in the World.
The title changed hands following a chaotic match that featured interference from Johnny Gargano and Kevin Owens. Zayn ultimately used the WWE Championship belt before connecting with the Helluva Kick to defeat Punk and reclaim the title.
More than a day after his victory, Zayn took to X to deliver his first message as the new champion.
“I AM THE WWE CHAMPION AGAIN.”
Sami Zayn Begins Second WWE Championship Reign
Sami Zayn captured the Undisputed WWE Championship for the first time at Night of Champions 2026. However, his first reign proved short-lived. A returning Punk defeated Zayn for the championship just nine days later on Monday Night Raw.
Zayn subsequently pushed for another one-on-one opportunity against Punk before finally receiving his rematch nearly three months later. His victory in Mexico City means Zayn has now captured the Undisputed WWE Championship twice in 2026.
The circumstances surrounding the title change could also leave unfinished business between Zayn and Punk following the interference and Zayn’s use of the championship belt during the match.
