WWE has reportedly confirmed two names for its SummerSlam weekend tryouts in Minneapolis. According to PWInsider, Florida independent wrestler Nigel Cawthon, who competes as Big Tito Lincoln, and Nicky Mariano, a graduate of Seth Rollins‘ Black & Brave Wrestling Academy, will both participate. Mariano has previously wrestled for TNA, AAW and Limitless Wrestling, while Cawthon has a background in amateur wrestling, football and boxing. WWE traditionally holds tryouts during major PLE weekends, with last year’s SummerSlam tryouts producing current NXT star Lizzy Rain.
The July 6 episode of WWE Raw drew 2.5 million global views and 5 million hours viewed on Netflix, ending a month-long decline in viewership. The show, which featured CM Punk‘s return and his Undisputed WWE Championship victory over Sami Zayn, aired in its usual time slot and ranked sixth globally for the week. It also reached the top 10 in 14 countries, including a fourth-place finish in the United States, marking Raw’s best global viewership since May 25.
Speaking of CM Punk and WWE ratings. Last Friday’s WWE SmackDown averaged 1.212 million viewers on USA Network, up 13.9% from the previous week and its highest audience since May 22. The show posted a 0.24 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, down 4% week-on-week, but still tied its third-highest demo rating since May. SmackDown ranked first on cable in the 18-49 demo and third across all television, with the boost coming after CM Punk’s Undisputed WWE Championship win and his appearance setting up a match for Saturday Night’s Main Event. Despite the weekly increase, viewership was down 13.4%, and the 18-49 rating fell 35.1% compared to the same week in 2025.
