According to Triple H, The Undertaker has taken Lucha Libre to a level it hasn’t seen before.
After WWE purchased a majority stake in AAA in 2025, they made the surprising move of putting The Undertaker in charge of the promotion’s creative direction. The move has worked out well for the Mexican promotion, which has seen major successes since the Phenom took the helm. This includes the acclaimed feud between the original and current El Grande Americanos, which culminated in a Mask vs. Mask match at Noche de Los Grandes, many argue is the match of the year.
In a new WWE YouTube video following Triple H’s recent trip to Mexico, the Game reflected on the success of both Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, who is currently in charge of NXT.
“Seeing the guys that are my generation, my contemporaries, my friends be able to step into these roles, be able to continue, as our bodies won’t allow us to do it anymore, but continue to be able to take all the knowledge that they have in their minds and be able to give it back to this next generation, to me, that’s what this business is all about.
Continuing, Triple H made a bold claim that The Undertaker has not only helped AAA, but has revitalized Lucha Libre as a whole.
“To be able to have Shawn running NXT and taking it to a whole other level and to have Undertaker come here and revitalize Lucha Libre in Mexico and just take it to a level that it hasn’t seen… maybe ever, it’s incredible.
“It’s emotional for me to see that and to be a part of it and do it with those guys. Nothing makes me happier.”
The Undertaker Lays Out Vision For AAA
In an interview in August, The Undertaker explained his vision for AAA. The Deadman says he wants to make the promotion completely different from the other WWE brands or any other company. For him, this means focusing on the storytelling, athleticism, and aggression, all of which were brought to the fore for the El Grande Americano feud earlier this year.
