The Undertaker has explained his creative vision for AAA.
When WWE purchased a majority stake in AAA in 2025, few foresaw that The Undertaker would be put in charge of the promotion’s creative direction. However, the company has seen major success since The Deadman came aboard, particularly with the recent feud between the Original and current El Grande Americanos. The rivalry between the pair culminated in an acclaimed Mask vs Mask match at Noche de Los Grandes that saw the OG unmasked and revealed to be Chad Gable.
During a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Undertaker was asked how much credit he takes for the bout. The Phenom said that he and Jeremy Borash had the idea, but Americano and Gable took it to another level.
“Myself and Jeremy Borash kind of had this idea, but El Grande and Chad Gable, man, they took the thought and the idea, and they really took it to a whole different level. There were some highly motivating speeches that I gave both of them before they would go out.”
The Undertaker explained that he tried to inspire the pair to be more aggressive and violent in the ring. That plays into his vision for AAA as a whole, which he wants to be different from the other WWE shows or any other promotion.
“I would reiterate to them how important what they’re about to go out and do is not only for AAA but for their own personal careers, trying to motivate them to do things differently and be more edgy, more aggressive, more violent, right? It took a while for that to kind of set in, and for them to see my vision. My vision is, I want us to put out a product that is completely different from NXT, it’s completely different from SmackDown or Raw. I want it to be different from every other wrestling. That starts, to me, with storytelling, athleticism, and aggression. It’s a process, and everybody’s starting to buy into it and realizing that what we’re doing down there has got the attention of the wrestling community.”
What Is The Undertaker’s Official AAA Role?
The Undertaker went on to reveal that his official position in AAA, in “layman’s terms,” is the Head of Creative for the promotion.
“I thought I dodged that question. I went all the way around it. That’s why you’re the best, because I thought I went all the way around it, and you would forget that. Oh my gosh! I guess in layman’s terms, I’m the Head of Creative.”
Elsewhere in the interview, The Undertaker hinted that his Six Feet Under podcast will be coming to an end sooner rather than later.
