You would never have thunk it at the time the feud began but the El Americano feud has ended in a Match of the Year candidate.
At AAA Noche de los Grandes, the OG El Grande Americano and Grande Americano fought in a No DQ, Mash-Versus-Mask match. The Americano identity was on the line.
Each Americano had their own mariachi band playing them to the ring.
The El Grande Americano OG received boos as soon as he was shown leaving the locker room. It sounded like the crowd was cheering “Gaaable! Gaable!…but I could be wrong. Who is this Gable they speak of? I am mightily confused.
OG tried to grab an El Grande Americano mask out of the hands of a fan but failed. So embarrassing. In the ring, the OG flipped off the fans.
El Grande Americano was dressed as a western cowboy with hat and vest. El Grande posed with his fans and hugged them at ringside.
As Grande was being introduced OG hit him with a guitar from behind. He then stomped him into the canvass and laid in some shots to the head too.
OG gave Grande a back suplex and they traded blows in a corner. They battled on the top rope until Grande gave OG a hanging suplex. As OG ran at Grande he pushed him off the apron with his feet. Grande doves onto OG on the floor and then drop kicked him into a ringside barricade.
OG backdropped Grande on the floor and then pitched him into a steel ring post. Grande turned things around dumping OG on the floor.
Grande reached under the ring pulling out a table. As he set it up, OG tackled and tossed him into the ring steps. OG slammed Grande’s head into the steps over and over.
An Angle Slam off the stairs by OG sends Grande crashing down onto the floor for a two count inside the ring. Tying up Grande in the ropes, the OG attempted to tear his mask off which was met by massive boos. OG did manage to rip it in several places.
Grande slams OG off the apron and through a table. OG managed to recover minutes later (?!?!) attempted to put Grande in an ankle lock. He couldn’t so he German Suplexed him on the floor instead.
OG smashed a piece of the broken table into Grande’s head knocking him over the barricade. OG picked up an announce chair and threw it at Grand twice.
OG suplexed Grande over the barricade and battered him on the Spanish Announce Table before tossing him back into the ring. Grande has been opened up and is bleeding. Grande brutalizes that cut with punches.
Grande fires off some wild rights and lefts but gets suplexed again for a two count. OG slaps Grande in the face. OG places Grande on the top rope peppering him with punches. OG hits a HUGE belly-to-back suplex off the top rope.
OG lands some carefully measured right hands. Grande slaps the canvass and asks for more. Grande lands some of his own punches and a Blockbuster off the top rope for a two count.
Grande puts OG on the top rope and starts ripping at his mask. Grand catches OG slamming him on the steel ring steps. Grande drop kicks OG into the steps.
Rapid fire rights from Grande to OG back inside the ring. OG is heavily busted open. Two count.
Grande starts throwing steel chairs into the ring. He leans one in a corner. As he positions another he gets suplexed by OG. They swing chairs at each other. OG loses that fight.
Los Americanos Julio and Bruno pull Grande out of the ring. They slam Grande onto the announce table and it doesn’t break. They do it again and it does.

Diving head butt to Grande from OG. Grande kicks out. Bravo Americano and Rayo Americano finally come help their leader. All four men brawl on the rampway. Rayo brings a kendo stick into the equation. Bravo dives off a section of seats 15 to 20 feet in the air landing on Julio and Bruno.
OG spies comedian Ojitos de Huevo in the audience. Ojitos de Huevo hits him with a walking stick of some kind. One of the mariachi players enters the ring hitting OG with a guitar in the head. They take off their mask and it is…Pimpinela Escarlata.
Grande hits an diving head butt for two. Grande pulls out a length of bull rope from under the ring. Before he can whip OG with it he gets kicked in the “lower abdomen”. OG whips Grande with the bull rope.
OG wraps it around Grande slamming his head into a steel chair for a two count. An angry OG chokes Grande in the ropes with the bull rope.
WWE Spanish host and AAA interviewer Andrea Bazarte, Grande’s girlfriend comes down to the first row to cheer him on. The announcers make a crack about “her getting into a fight in some elevator in Florida”.
OG eyes her. He climbs out of the ring. He demands she leave. She was fired by the company. She pulls out a front row ticket. Grande jumps OG from behind walloping him with the bull rope. OG is DDTed on a steel chair. He kicks out.
Both men throws hands as they are on their knees in the middle of the ring. The crowd boos each of OG’s shots and cheer Grande. Grande charges in. OG throws him into a corner head over heels. OG with a moonsault for another two count.

OG drags Grande over to a steel post. He wraps his leg around it and bashes it with a steel chair. Back in the ring, it is ankle lock time. Grande rolls out of it into his neck lock submission. OG flips out back into another ankle lock. OG grape vines the leg. Grande looks close to tapping but gets back to his feet suplexing OG.
Grande runs off the ropes but staggers, falls onto the mat holding his ankle. Chaos Theory for a two count on Grande. Grande still cannot get back to his feet. He crawls to a corner daring OG to attack him. OG charges. Grande dives out of the way. OG smashes into a steel post.
Grande and OG stagger back to their feet. Grande runs off the ropes several times for a flying head butt. OG is pinned.

After the match, Grande explained he began his luchador education so he could defeat all the luchadores he hated. In the process, he learned about AAA, lucha libre, Mexico, Mexican people, their culture.
“Tonight, I could not overcome the Mexican spirit but understand this, I will always be the original El Grande Americano but I am looking you in the eye to say now, you are the only El Grande Americano,” said OG with his wife and kids in the ring.

OG took off his mask and revealed himself to be…Chad Gable. Gable was still dripping blood down his face.
The fans began chanting Gable’s name.
Gable said he couldn’t beat the Mexican spirit tonight. He then declares Grande is the only El Grande Americano now.

- El Hijo del Vikingo defeated El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. to become the new AAA Latin American Champion.
- War Raiders defeat Pagano & Psycho Clown to become the AAA Tag Team Champions.
