Paul Heyman believes there is one WrestleMania moment that stands above the rest in the modern era of WWE.
As the manager of multiple main event stars, Paul Heyman has been part of many WrestleMania moments over the years, but the one that stands out in his mind is when Brock Lesnar ended The Undertaker‘s Streak at WrestleMania 30.
During an appearance on Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast, Heyman said the most memorable thing for fans wasn’t the match itself, but the instant the scoreboard flashed up with 21-1 instead of the expected 22-0, and the crowd realised what had just happened.
“No one remembers the match; they remember the finish. They remember the crowd reaction. To me, the moment was when the scoreboard changed. The audience knew at that moment, ‘Oh my God, this is really happening.’ Then you feel the rumble in the crowd, like, ‘Oh my God this really… We’re witnessing something we never thought we’d get to witness.’
That tells a lot about our industry in that it’s not about everything, it’s about the moment. That people remember the finish, that people remember the moment, that people remember the emotion. They don’t have to really remember the match itself. If this is what you’re building towards, if that moment is what you’re building towards and you deliver it, that’s the memory. That’s what people take home with them.
12 years later, it’s still a sore spot because of that, not with people saying, ‘Well you know, during the match, I was kind of expecting this.’ As much as Hogan and Andre from WrestleMania 3 is the WrestleMania moment of the early days or Steve Austin and Mike Tyson being the Attitude Era moment. To me, this generation, that’s the moment.”
Former WWE Champion Calls On Oba Femi To Align With Paul Heyman
Former WWE star Raj Dhesi, better known to fans as Jinder Mahal, believes that Oba Femi should align with Paul Heyman. Dhesi explained that mirroring Brock Lesnar’s debut run and having Femi “destroy everybody” would lead to The Ruler organically turning babyface when the crowd got behind him.
