Brandi Rhodes has shared her thoughts on Cody Rhodes’ famous neck tattoo, admitting that she would have preferred the WWE star to choose a much smaller design.
Cody Rhodes’ American Nightmare tattoo has become one of his most recognisable features, although its size and prominent position have generated plenty of discussion since he first revealed it. Speaking during A Shot of Brandi with Carmelo Hayes, Brandi Rhodes discussed the conversations she had with her husband surrounding the tattoo. While she didn’t want to dictate what Cody could do with his body, she admitted she would have approached the design differently.
“Here’s what I said to Cody about the neck tattoo, ‘It’s your body. You can do what you want with your body. However, I wouldn’t do it quite that large if it were me,’” Brandi said.
Brandi Rhodes Explains Her Issue With Cody Rhodes’ Neck Tattoo
Cody debuted the tattoo during his entrance for his match against MJF at AEW Revolution in February 2020. The large red, white and blue design features the skull-and-wings logo associated with Cody’s American Nightmare identity and covers a significant portion of the right side of his neck. Despite the reaction the tattoo has received over the years, Brandi made it clear that she does not dislike the design itself. Instead, her main issue appears to be its size.
“I don’t not like it, I think it’s his personality. I think he did it because he’s that kind of person. He represents what he represents all the time,” she explained.
Cody himself has previously acknowledged the attention surrounding the tattoo, which has become closely associated with his presentation since he first unveiled it more than six years ago.
