Alexa Bliss has revealed how her partnership with Charlotte Flair first came together and why the idea initially raised concerns within WWE.
Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair spent much of their WWE careers positioned as opponents, but Bliss believed that history could make an unlikely partnership between the pair more interesting. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bliss explained that she originally pitched the idea because fans had rarely been given the opportunity to see them working together.
“When I first pitched for us to be together, so I was like, ‘We’ve always been opposite of each other, right? We’ve both been against each other. You’ve never seen us team together, and I think that would be a really cool dynamic,’” Bliss recalled.
However, Bliss revealed that one concern surrounding the proposal was the reaction Flair was receiving from WWE crowds at the time.
“And they’re like, ‘Oh man, she has all this heat,’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, but there’s a way to do it.’”

Despite those concerns, Alexa Bliss remained confident the partnership could succeed because she had seen sides of Charlotte Flair that wrestling fans had rarely seen.
“I think people need to see that she’s finally kind of allowed herself to step into her own,” Bliss said.
Bliss believes Flair has since been able to combine elements of her established television character with more of her personality away from the ring. According to Bliss, that has allowed fans to connect with Flair differently. She pointed to audiences being able to see Flair make mistakes, move away from always needing to be perfect and focus on relationships rather than constantly pursuing championships.
The partnership has also allowed Bliss to explore something different with her own character. She noted that many of her previous relationships on WWE television ultimately ended with her betraying her partners. This time, Bliss believes the genuine friendship between herself and Flair has helped make their partnership work.
“I think it’s fun to see this dynamic of both of us letting our guards down and having fun,” Bliss said. “We’re genuinely having a good time together, and I think that’s what really changed the whole dynamic.”
