Today, we are learning what led up to the incident between CM Punk and a fan on WrestleMania weekend.
In the original footage posted by TMZ, Punk swatted a fan’s phone out of their hands in the hotel lobby of the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. The fan had been filming Bayley and his wife, AJ Lee, exchanging goodbyes.
Punk is seen knocking the phone out of the fan’s hand and getting into his face.
The fan apologizes as security and Punk’s friend Ace Steele step in.
As the three leave the lobby, the fan says: “He must’ve had a bad day” possibly referring to Punk’s title loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania just hours earlier.
In new footage released today by TMZ, the fan and others are shown literally a few feet away filming and snapping away as Bayley and Lee hug.
Turning away from the crowd, Bayley even comments about the people surrounding them as she and Lee begin to walk away from the fans to a separate hallway to be alone.
The fan follows them still recording.
“We love you, Bayley!” says the fan as Bayley pushes his camera away. Bayley tells him to “get out of here”.
That is when Punk stepped in.
The anonymous fan has told TMZ: “I want an apology — shake my hand — I’m not gonna sue him or put him in jail. I just want an apology.”
Booker T also went public today about how bad security was at MGM Grand Hotel and Casino during WrestleMania weekend, including a fan filming him in the bathroom.
