Count Booker T as another WWE talent who was not happy about how security was handled during WrestleMania weekend.
On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T criticized the atmosphere at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino where WWE/TKO had the talent staying.
“The fans were definitely off the chain in Las Vegas. I love my fans, man, I really do. I need to tell you guys right now you really need to understand what the guys go through sometimes and give them their space. Seeing them out there working like crazy and they come in and you disrespect them with their kids, their wives and their families and then something happens. One of the guys gets upset about it…We are human. We are only human. After a show like that, it is like Don Johnson used to say on Miami Vice: ‘The show is over. The show is over.’ Give the guys a little bit of a break, a little bit of space at certain times because it is taxing. It truly is,” Booker explained.
Booker then detailed how truly difficult it was for everyone.
“We needed some better security at MGM Grand this year. It was really, really hard. I can only imagine what the superstars, the guys that’s actually going out there and doing it in the ring, how it felt for them because I got mobbed and I’m not even doing this anymore. So, hopefully we can get that fixed,” he said.
Booker went on to detail two incidents that happened to him over the course of the weekend.
“I was walking out of the hotel and a guy just blocked me. He got his camera out. It was just so disrespectful. If I bumped him and he went down, he would have probably tried to sue me. So much goes into stuff like that. The reason why the superstars don’t want to put themselves into that situation is someone is going to cry wolf,” he said.
He then described how a fan filmed him in the bathroom, of all places.
“They were camped out everywhere! They were camped out! You couldn’t walk anywhere and they were following you. In the bathroom, I remember the guy literally was filming me in the bathroom and when I walked out he goes, ‘Hey, Booker.’ And I just kept walking because I was so mad because he was filming me in the bathroom,” he said.
Booker doesn’t remember a worse time when it comes to talent being harassed by fans.
“For me it was the toughest time I have ever had to deal as far as the fan interaction goes. A lot of them were outright disrespectful,” he said.
An incident involving CM Punk slapping a phone out of a fan’s hands went viral yesterday with the fan now asking for an apology from Punk himself.
