A championship reign came to an end in the main event of TNA Slammiversary on Sunday night following a hard-fought battle at the Agganis Arena in Boston.
Nic Nemeth defeated Mike Santana to capture the TNA World Championship for the second time after capitalising on the champion’s injuries late in the match.
Santana, who had been left bloodied earlier in the contest, attempted to put Nemeth away with his Spin the Block finisher. However, the effects of the punishment he had absorbed caught up with him, allowing Nemeth to recover and connect with the Danger Zone for the decisive pinfall.
Following the victory, Nic Nemeth celebrated in the ring with his brother, Ryan Nemeth, as Slammiversary went off the air.
The title change marked the 66th in the history of the TNA World Championship, which dates back to 2007. Nemeth also became just the 16th wrestler to hold the championship on multiple occasions.
Nemeth previously captured the title at Slammiversary in 2024, winning an elimination match against Josh Alexander, Steve Maclin, Joe Hendry and Frankie Kazarian.
Santana’s second reign as TNA World Champion came to an end after 164 days and six successful title defences. He won the championship from Frankie Kazarian on the January 15, 2026, edition of TNA Impact.
His first reign began at Bound For Glory 2025, where he defeated Trick Williams to win the title before dropping it to Kazarian the following month on a live episode of Impact from Full Sail University.
New TNA Knockouts World Champion Also Crowned At Slammiversary
Xia Brookside captured the TNA Knockouts World Championship at Slammiversary last night by defeating Lei Ying Lee.
Brookside secured the victory after Lee collided with an exposed turnbuckle before being hit with a DDT, earning her first major championship. Lee’s second title reign ended after 75 days and one successful title defence, while Brookside became the 33rd wrestler to hold the Knockouts World Championship.
