AEW World Champion MJF has provided an encouraging update on the knee injury he suffered during last week’s Dynamite.
The reigning champion took to Instagram ahead of tonight’s Dynamite episode, sharing a video of himself in a cold plunge as he discussed his recovery progress. MJF revealed that he hyperextended his left knee during his AEW World Championship defence against Rush, but said the injury has responded well over the past week. Quotes courtesy of f4wonline.com
“Very recently, I have hurt my left knee,” MJF said. “I hyperextended it in a match against RUSH. And honestly, this match happened on Wednesday. It is now, I believe, Tuesday, and my inflammation in my knee has drastically gone down.”
While admitting he is still dealing with pain and swelling, the current AEW World Champion credited cold therapy for helping speed up his recovery.
“Obviously, there’s still a lot of inflammation and pain, but being honest with myself, without this cold plunge, I do believe it would have took me a lot longer to start feeling like myself.”
He also joked that staying healthy is important not only for his career, but for AEW as a whole.
When Did MJF’s Injury Occur?
The injury occurred during last week’s Dynamite main event, where MJF successfully retained the AEW World Championship against Rush. Reports later surfaced indicating that the champion had suffered a hyperextended knee during the bout.
The injury was significant enough to force MJF to withdraw from a scheduled appearance for Beyond Wrestling, where he had been advertised to face Bobby Orlando. Andrade El Idolo was later announced as his replacement.
Despite that setback, MJF’s latest comments suggest he is making steady progress in his recovery and remains optimistic about avoiding an extended absence from the ring.
