Jade Cargill has opened up about the serious injury she suffered during a WWE Women’s Championship match last year, revealing she initially had no idea how badly she had been cut.
Speaking on the No Contest Wrestling Podcast, Jade Cargill reflected on the September 26, 2025, edition of WWE SmackDown, where she suffered a deep gash above her eye during a Triple Threat Match against Tiffany Stratton and Nia Jax.
The injury occurred after Jax sent Cargill into the steel ring steps, which were supposed to move on impact.
Despite blood pouring from the wound, Cargill admitted her first thought was not the severity of the injury.
“I looked down, and you could look at the video, and a whole stream of blood just poured into my hand. And I was like, ‘Oh, okay, that’s our blood.’ But all I was thinking was like, ‘Dang,’ because I have a white wig. I got to figure out how I’m going to clean this out of my head.”
Cargill said she only realised something was seriously wrong when she heard the crowd’s reaction.
“Daph was like, ‘You are bleeding.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, well, it’s probably not that bad.’ And then in unison, the entire arena just gasped.”
She revealed she had planned to celebrate after taking out Jax, but quickly abandoned those plans.
“After what I did to Nia, I was going to get on the announcer’s table and beat my chest like King Kong and talk a lot of smack. But then in unison the arena did that, and then all the women in the front row turned around in disgust.”
Jade Cargill Recalled Learning After The Match She Would Need Cosmetic Surgery For Her Wounds
After the match, Jade Cargill learned the full extent of the injury from WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H.
“Triple H said, ‘Yeah, we gonna have to see about plastic surgery.’ And I was like, ‘Whoa, for you to say that, must be bad, because he’s seen so much.'”
She explained the wound required extensive treatment.
“It was hanging. My brow was crooked. It was three layers deep, and they had to cut it because it was so crooked.”
Cargill also revealed that Triple H instructed production to stop showing the injury on the broadcast.
“From what I was told, Triple H backstage was like, ‘Get it off her. Get the camera off her.'”
Although Tiffany Stratton retained the WWE Women’s Championship that night, Cargill captured the title from her at Saturday Night’s Main Event two months later before holding the championship for nearly 170 days.
