Hulk Hogan opened up about the lowest point of his life in what became his final interview, revealing he came close to taking his own life following the breakdown of his marriage.
The comments appear in Netflix’s Hulk Hogan: Real American documentary, released after his death in July 2025, which explores both his career and personal struggles. The film focuses heavily on the aftermath of his divorce from Linda Hogan, which was finalised in 2009.
Hogan described how the situation led him into a downward spiral involving alcohol and medication.
“I went home and I started drinking… started eating pills, and I just went down this rabbit hole,” Hogan said. “The next thing I know, I’m sitting in front of my bathroom with a gun in my mouth and not knowing what I was doing.”
He also spoke about the financial impact of the divorce, explaining that he gave up a significant portion of his assets and was left starting over.
“I hit rock bottom… I gave Linda 70% of everything… after the divorce I had no money. I was broke, and so TNA saved me.”
