A WWE Hall of Famer has shared his advice on what Sheamus should do following the 48-year-old’s surprise exit from the company.
WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has shared his advice for Sheamus following the former WWE Champion’s departure from the company after nearly two decades. Speaking on 83 Weeks, Bischoff suggested that, after 19 years with WWE, Sheamus is likely in a position where financial considerations are no longer his primary motivation.
“If money isn’t the driver, and this is the hard part that wrestling fans will have a hard time relating to, is if it’s not about the money, what is it about? It’s about the performance, it’s about being out there in front of a crowd and getting that energy,” Bischoff said.
Bischoff questioned whether wrestling full-time for another promotion would provide the same experience Sheamus enjoyed in WWE, noting that performing in front of significantly smaller crowds may not be as fulfilling.
“You’re going to go out and wrestle in front of 1,200 people. You’re not getting any buzz from that,” he said, referencing promotions such as AEW and NJPW.
Eric Bischoff Believes Sheamus Should Not Commit To A Full-Time Deal In Another Promotion
Rather than committing to another full-time contract, Eric Bischoff believes the first Irish-born WWE Champion should make occasional appearances for promotions that interest him.
“I would leverage that success, and I would pick and choose my shots,” Bischoff said. He suggested that one-off appearances for companies such as AAA, AEW or NJPW could allow Sheamus to continue wrestling while enjoying greater flexibility. Take it, have fun, come home with a bag of money, have a great time and some memories, and wait for the next one.”
Sheamus officially departed WWE after rejecting a restructured contract offer, bringing an end to a run that began in 2007 and included multiple world championship reigns, a Royal Rumble victory and numerous other title successes.
