Speculation about a potential Vince McMahon return to WWE continues to circulate, and one former head WWE writer believes the company’s longtime chairman may not be finished with the wrestling business.
Speaking with Wrestling Epicenter, Vince Russo said he believes Vince McMahon is positioning himself for a future comeback following several recent legal developments involving the former WWE executive.
Russo cited the resolution of a shareholder lawsuit and the ongoing developments surrounding Janel Grant‘s lawsuit as reasons some people have begun discussing the possibility of McMahon’s return to the industry.
“I never thought the day would come in a million years. I think the wrestling business is a lot worse without Vince McMahon,” Russo said. “I think currently Vince is clearing the deck to make a big comeback. Man, we just saw the shareholder lawsuit. We just saw that put to bed with a settlement. Now it looks like he’s going to settle with Janel Grant.”
Vince Russo Believes Vince McMahon’s Relationship With TKO CEO Ari Emanuel Could Pave The Way To His WWE Return
Vince Russo went on to suggest that Vince McMahon’s relationship with TKO executives, including CEO Ari Emanuel, could prove significant if circumstances were to change in the future.
The former WWE writer also questioned whether those in charge of WWE and TKO are satisfied with the current television product, despite the company’s strong business performance and lucrative media rights agreements.
“There is nobody in the world that can tell me that the people running TKO are happy with the numbers,” Russo said. “I’m talking TV numbers, viewership numbers, not dollars and cents. They’ve cut some great deals. I’m talking about the product on television.”
Russo added that he believes recent developments could eventually lead to McMahon returning to a prominent role.
“I could not believe for a second that they’re happy with that. And I really believe that they’re clearing the field and Vince is gonna be back in the saddle again.”
There has been no indication from WWE or TKO that McMahon is expected to return to the company.
