Charlotte Flair has reflected on the personal toll of trying to live up to one of wrestling’s most iconic legacies, her father, Ric Flair.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, the multi-time champion admitted the pressure of carrying the Flair name affected her deeply during much of her WWE run.
“The pressure of being Ric Flair is like unimaginable.”
She said, explaining that from 2015 to 2024, she struggled with trying to appear perfect publicly while dealing with personal challenges behind the scenes. Charlotte Flair said the expectation to maintain that image ultimately came at a cost.
“Trying to be so perfect all the time… it lost who I was as a person,” she added.
The daughter of Ric Flair, Charlotte, has spent her career being compared to the 16-time world champion, widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. She has previously spoken about the complexities of that legacy, but her latest comments highlight the emotional weight that has come with it throughout her career.
