WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus believes a certain star deserves a greater spotlight within the company.
Speaking with John Pollock of POST Wrestling, Trish Stratus reflected on her recent WWE appearances and discussed the opportunity to work with different members of the current women’s division. One performer she was particularly excited to share the ring with was Candice LeRae, who teamed with Nia Jax against Stratus during her latest run.
“I was so excited to work with Candice,” Stratus said. “I was like, ‘Dude, you’ve been actively wrestling so much longer than me. I’m so excited that we get to share this spotlight and people can be like, ‘Damn, look at what she can do.’ I’m excited about that.’”
Stratus believes LeRae’s experience and ability warrant a more prominent position on WWE programming.
“I think she deserves so much more of the spotlight, to be honest.”
Trish Stratus Wants Bigger WWE Spotlight For Candice LeRae
Candice LeRae is currently in her eighth year with WWE across two separate spells with the company. She has enjoyed championship success during that time, including a reign as NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Indi Hartwell. LeRae also became WWE Women’s Speed Champion in October 2024.
Towards the end of 2025, LeRae also began taking on responsibilities as a producer behind the scenes. Despite her experience and previous accomplishments, LeRae has struggled to receive consistent in-ring opportunities on WWE television and live events recently.
She has competed in only three matches during 2026, with her most recent bout taking place in June. LeRae has continued to make occasional appearances on SmackDown, primarily through segments involving her husband, Johnny Gargano.
Gargano has been involved in an ongoing storyline which has seen him appear unresponsive backstage during episodes of SmackDown. While LeRae’s current television role has been limited, Trish Stratus believes the veteran wrestler can do much more if given the opportunity.
Having shared the ring with LeRae herself, the seven-time WWE Women’s Champion believes a larger platform would allow fans to see more of what LeRae can offer.
