AJ Styles has admitted he was surprised by Kairi Sane’s recent departure from WWE.
Speaking on his “Phenomenally Retro Podcast”, AJ Styles said he had no insight into the decision but felt Kairi Sane was performing at a high level before her exit, which came as part of the post-WrestleMania 42 roster cuts.
“That one caught me off guard as well because it was a great tag team thing. I feel like Kairi is doing her best work as of now. I wish I had answers. I don’t have these answers for you guys. I don’t. I don’t know what this means for her.”
Styles also questioned what could be next for Sane, suggesting a potential return to Japan as one possibility, while stressing he was unsure of the circumstances surrounding her release.
“I will say this: the first time that she left, she went home to Japan. And I don’t know if that had anything to do with this.”
AJ Styles Says He Understands Kairi Sane’s Decision To Return Home To Japan
Reflecting on her previous WWE exit, AJ Styles noted that Sane had chosen to return home at that time, adding that he understands the pull of living in another country.
“I’m just saying that she went back to Japan last time that she left. I think she wanted to go home. So I get it. Given the opportunity, living in another country, I’d always want to go home myself.”
Sane’s departure has left uncertainty around her future, with Styles emphasising how well-regarded she was within the company during her run.
