AEW World Champion MJF has reignited his war of words with Sheamus following reports that the WWE veteran’s contract is nearing its expiration.
Taking to X, MJF responded to speculation about Sheamus’ WWE future by reviving a 2022 exchange between the two, while taking aim at the former world champion.
Back in September 2022, Sheamus dismissed the 30-year-old star with a GIF of Conor McGregor, accompanied by the caption, “Who the fook is that guy?” Nearly four years later, the AEW World Champion made it clear he had not forgotten the comment.
“The guy you alluded to,” MJF wrote. “Stop now or I’m gonna devour you. You can rock 6-inch lifts and play top guy, but you’ve been handed the ball multiple times and fell. I’m glad you’re having a resurgence and finally figured out how to get over. It only took you a decade.”
MJF’s comments come amid reports that Sheamus’ current WWE contract is approaching its end, although neither WWE nor Sheamus has publicly commented on his future, and no timetable for free agency has been confirmed.
The exchange is the latest chapter in the long-running social media rivalry between the two stars, with the current AEW World Champion once again using the speculation surrounding Sheamus’ status to take a swipe at the former WWE Champion.
MJF’s Current Reign As AEW World Champion
MJF heads into the latest exchange as AEW World Champion after regaining the title at Double or Nothing 2026. He successfully retained the championship against Mark Briscoe on the July 1 edition of AEW Dynamite, continuing his latest reign at the top of the company.
